Dear Track & Field,

I’ve been sitting on this post for a while, trying to figure out how to officially close the chapter on my throwing career. For the last five years, nearly everything I’ve posted has been about track, so I guess it feels strange to write a post that says goodbye. I thought waiting would make it easier, but the words still feel just as hard to find now as they did when this unforgettable season ended.

It’s impossible to thank everyone who supported me along the way, but my parents and family deserve a huge shoutout for traveling all over to watch me compete. My coach, @brandt_berghuis , has been with me every step of the way over my five years at River Falls, teaching me not only everything I know about the sport, but also how to enjoy the grind and appreciate the journey.

On paper, 2023 was my best season, finishing 7th at conference and breaking a long drought for our program. But 2024–25 will always be my favorite. Sure, I set new PRs, but I didn’t stack up in the conference quite like before. What made this season special were the memories, friendships, and team culture we built. I came in thinking my purpose was to score points and make it to nationals. While I fell short of that goal, I found something bigger: helping build something for the athletes who come after me.

When I joined, our team had barely 30 athletes. This year, we had over 100 and finished 5th at conference. The culture is strong and hungry to keep growing. I’m proud of this team, proud of how far we’ve come, and proud of how much I’ve grown as both an athlete and a person.

Now that my competitive career is over, it’s time to keep building in a new way! See you in the fall, @uwrf_throwers. taken in University of Wisconsin-River Falls by @sindelir_

And just like that 2023 is over. Such an incredible year with a lot changes for me. I started @sindelir_media this past Spring and have had the amazing opportunity to capture my fellow student athletes at UWRF. Tons of great experience and connections from this past year. Thank you all for your support for my own athletic career and my photography, here’s to an even better 2024.

End of another great season. 3 years of hard work finally paying off after finding myself on the podium this year. Beyond proud of myself and this team I’m blessed to lead. Cant wait to see what we build next year. Brick by Brick taken in UW-Whitewater by @sindelir_
