If I give you 100k today to start agric, what will you do? Beekeeping, crop production, poultry or piggery? by @sindynjonguo

How to close a hive correctly: align the inner cover first, then the outer cover flush to keep rain out. #beekeeping #beekeeper by @sindynjonguo

How does honey actually get ripe?
Here is what really happens:

1. Foraging: Bees collect thin, watery nectar from flowers. It is about 70% water at this point.

2. Passing it on: Back at the hive, they pass it from bee to bee. Each bee adds enzymes that break down the sugars.

3. Fanning: They store it in the honeycomb cells and then fan it like crazy with their wings. This evaporates the water.

4. Capping: When the water content drops to about 18-20%, the honey is ripe. The bees seal the cell with a wax cap to keep it fresh.

If you harvest before it is capped, the honey is unripe and can ferment.

Ripe honey is capped honey. That wax cap is the bees telling you, "We are done."

That is why we wait.

Wax on the lid with no colony to guard it means you just built a five-star hotel for insects. #beekeeping #beekeeper by @sindynjonguo

Agriculture without beekeeping is like a car without engine. It moves but very slow.
Across the globe, farms near forest with wild bees produce 2x more than farms far from forest.
But we cut forest, kill wild bees, then complain.

Solution: Bring bees back to farm. 5 hives = forest brought to your farm.
You can't do agriculture in 2027 without beekeeping. by @sindynjonguo

We prepare the hive like a house, so the bees can move in like family. #beekeeping #beekeeper by @sindynjonguo

When still in the hive, honey has a moisture content below 18%, which is why bacteria cannot survive in it. #beekeeping #beekeeper by @sindynjonguo

We opened an empty, dirty hive and found toads living inside instead of bees. #beekeeping #beekeeper by @sindynjonguo

Your bees absconded because your farm has no water. Bees need water like humans.
Many beekeepers put hives in dry farms, no river, no water bowl.

Bees fly 5km to find water, get tired, die, colony lbecomes weak.
Put a small bowl with water + sticks for bees to land near apiary. Change water daily.

Water = bees stay. No water = bees leave.

Bees fan ripe honey for days to reduce moisture, don't rush their work. #beekeeping #beekeeper by @sindynjonguo
