Hauz Khas

The name Hauz Khas literally means "Royal Tank." Built in the 13th century by Sultan Alauddin Khilji, the reservoir supplied water to the medieval city of Siri, while the surrounding complex later became home to mosques, tombs and one of the most important centers of learning in the Delhi Sultanate.

Centuries later, the ruins evolved into Hauz Khas Village (HKV)—a unique blend of history, art, cafés, fashion and nightlife that became one of Delhi's most iconic cultural spaces.

Its cinematic charm hasn't gone unnoticed by Bollywood. Rockstar (2011) filmed memorable scenes around the Hauz Khas Fort and lake, while Tamasha (2015) used Hauz Khas Village and Social for key moments between Ved and Tara, including scenes associated with Agar Tum Saath Ho. Films like 2 States, Kabir Singh, and even songs from Lakshya have also featured the area's distinctive atmosphere.

Maybe that's why every frame shot here feels cinematic.

Because Hauz Khas isn't just a location.

It's a place where 700 years of history, love stories, memories and movies coexist in the same frame.

CINEMA TEACHES US…

Cinema teaches us that stories are more than just stories.

They teach us equality —
that every voice deserves to be heard,
every person deserves to be seen,
and no one is less because they are different.

They teach us feminism —
that strength doesn’t always have to be loud,
and that women deserve to choose their own stories.

They teach us love —
not just the kind we find in another person,
but the kind we learn to have for ourselves.

They teach us healing —
that it’s okay to fall apart,
to take your time,
and to start putting yourself back together.

They teach us courage —
to stand up when it’s easier to stay silent,
to walk away when something isn’t meant for us,
and to begin again when life gives us every reason not to.

They teach us to dream —
to dream bigger than our circumstances,
to believe in impossible things,
and to chase them anyway.

They teach us failure —
that losing doesn’t mean the story is over.
Sometimes, it’s just the beginning of the best chapter.

And perhaps, that’s what makes cinema so beautiful.

It doesn’t just show us different lives…

It makes us feel them.

For a few hours,
we become someone else.
We see the world through another person’s eyes.
We laugh with strangers,
cry for people we’ve never met,
and sometimes…

we find a little bit of ourselves in them.

Because cinema doesn’t just entertain us.

Cinema teaches us how to feel.
How to understand.
How to hope.
How to dream.

And sometimes,
all it takes is one film…

to change the way we see the world.
