Last weekend I did my first ever solo pole routine at the @blackwidowpolestudio showcase! It's my love-letter to the Mountain Goats to their song Possum by Night. I had so much fun creating this routine with the help of @pixie_poles_co

First time trying out the Grounded Chrome class at @the.pole.den ! That was a fun choreo ^_^

I still need to work on the feel that a backbend should have when I have my shoes on, but of course we practice to improve, so now I know that I need to work on that!

For ✨️years✨️ we have been meaning to pick up trash in the rotella park creekbed before it fills back up for the season. We finally did it! There is now four fewer trashbags-worth of trash in the creek! Hopefully we can do another pass before it becomes a waterway again (there was a lot more further up, but we had to stop for the day), but we have a pretty busy rest of the month, so we'll see! taken in Rotella Park by @singerscientist

Sappho's turn to be an enemy of science! I have 5 papers left to read and take notes on for this protein and she is not making it easy. I can't spend more money than I already do working at coffee shops, cat! I'm not getting paid for this! This review article is due in two weeks!!! by @singerscientist

A fun freestyle flow from my first pole class of 2026! Thank you @blackwidowpolestudio for being so welcoming!! This was at the end of their Saturday beginner+ class, which was so much fun, and we comfortably covered a LOT more material than I was expecting 💖
This year my main goal for pole is to get more comfortable upside-down, which mostly will focus on getting my invert to a point where I'm not simply hanging on for dear life until I touch down 😅 but can also be seen with how creaky my headstand looked here and with how I *thought* my peter pan was fully horizontal near the end there. Still, I really liked how this freestyle came out, especially how the floorwork towards the camera looked!! 💖

These are a few of mine from this year, but we've had painting, drawing, clothes mending, clothes making, lace making, knitting, Book Nook assembly, sculpting, cosplay making, styrofoam recycling into fine art sculpture, woodworking, graphic design, 3D printing, and people just hanging out. As long as you're able to chat while doing it (or between loud things--I mute myself when the sewing machine's going and just listen for a bit), then it is welcome! by @singerscientist

I love that we're supposed to go to as many political events as possible when our political candidates have events like these! We are very much enjoying @philforcolorado 's bubbe's rugelach for the last night of channukah 💖 It was very fun to learn his takes on current events and policy intersperced with scifi book recommendations, asking his wife for the chemistry reasoning behind baking, and forays into physics concepts. I look forward to this governor's race!! by @singerscientist

Just a heads up to people trying to reach me: My phone died and we're waiting for the new one to come in, but until next week I will be pretty unresponsive here, and completely unresponsive to texts and calls. I'll be checking insta and fb periodically, as well as discord regularly.

Also desktop insta doesn't let you post stories, so here's our Halloween candy this year! If kids come, they're getting the good stuff. If they don't, we're getting the good stuff 😈 by @singerscientist

We're gonna miss this little monster. Mr. Purr (sir) was the sweetest aggressive cat I have ever met. Over the 3.5 years we had him, he has gone to literally attacking me to aggressive play to normal play, and he learned to trust the heck out of us and we of him. He would let Lucy get away with a lot more rough petting and play than I could, but we developed a wonderful and loving relationship, including lots of belly rubs and me being allowed to nuzzle his face.

Mr. Purr (sir) had cancer in the submucosa of his larynx, and had been having more and more trouble breathing, so today we spent the day with him. He got some garage time, got a spray of albuterol which allowed him some catnip (which was his favorite thing, but we hadn't given any to him in a few months due to his respiratory problems). The albuterol also allowed us to actually pet him for a bit without his purring causing difficulty breathing! Once the purring started being harder on him, we got him a burger patty from Chubby's and he got some bites of that and some deli meat. Then we hanged out with him for a few hours, us reading and periodically doing light scritches and him looking out the window. We followed that up with doing some yoga, which he likes to be there to inspect our form for. Then we gave him some GABA, which put him to sleep for a gentle euthanasia with the same group that did Curtis. The doctor was wonderful and came to our house so we didn't have to drive him anywhere.
My heart is heavy, but I know we picked the right time before he was in true pain. We only got three and a half years with him, but they were amazing years, and we will remember him forever. by @singerscientist

It's Mr. Purr (Sir)'s turn to be an enemy of science! I'm trying to flesh out the SLFN2 section of my review article, but he has other plans. Even while being a sickly boy (and needing steroids every morning), he takes his job of disrupting my writing very seriously!! by @singerscientist
