The Cost of Being the Strong One 🤍

Growing older is teaching me that sometimes the very qualities we spend our younger years celebrating are the ones that come at the greatest emotional cost.

Growing up, I wore my fierceness like a badge of honor. I was proud to be the confident one. The independent one. The outspoken one. The one who could hold her own and never shy away from anything.

I loved being the strong one.

And I still do.

But at what cost?

Your strength becomes an expectation.
Your kindness becomes a given.
Your presence becomes something people grow so accustomed to that they sometimes forget its value.

And somewhere along the way, your resilience creates the illusion that disappointments hurt a little less, that your feelings need a little less consideration, simply because you’ve always been so good at carrying on.

Perhaps the quietest cost of being the strong one is that you become so accustomed to giving that you almost forget what it feels like to simply receive.

To be considered without asking.
To be cared for without explaining.
To be reminded that beneath all that confidence is a heart that needs tenderness, too.

And as I grow older, I’m realizing that strength and softness are not mutually exclusive.

Being independent doesn’t mean I don’t need anyone.
Being fierce doesn’t mean I don’t feel deeply.

I wouldn’t change the girl I was. I love her fire, her confidence, her unwavering spirit.

But perhaps this next chapter isn’t about becoming any less strong.

Perhaps it’s about understanding that I don’t always have to be.

Because the greatest luxury for a strong woman isn’t having someone to lean on.

It’s having someone who notices when she needs to, without her ever having to ask. 🤍

Some friendships transcend distance, time zones, demanding careers, motherhood… and apparently my tolerance for flying. 😂

Because this wasn’t just about celebrating a dear friend. It was about celebrating friendship, motherhood, careers we’ve worked hard to build, and the women we’ve become through it all.

And somehow, the friendship grew right alongside all of it.

Some people are simply worth showing up for — even when showing up means 12 hours in the air for barely a day together. ❤️

I’d do it all over again.

Some friendships just take a little longer to officially begin. ❤️

For years, we were the moms who kept crossing paths — school drop-offs, pick-ups, kids’ classes — always feeling like our energies just matched, but somehow never actually hanging out.

Then we finally did… and turns out, we were right. 😂

So having one of these beautiful humans celebrate our anniversary with us, and another show up with cake, felt extra special. 🥹❤️

Sometimes you meet your people later in life. And when you do, you wonder what took you so damn long. 😂💖

I need to take a moment to brag about my incredibly talented sister-in-law. 🎨❤️

For my parents’ wedding anniversary, she took two of their original wedding photos and turned them into this absolutely stunning portrait.

And when I say painted, I mean painted by hand. Not digital. Not AI. Just an artist, a canvas, and an incredible amount of talent.

I genuinely can’t get over the details, the colors, their expressions, their EMOTIONS — but more than anything, the way she somehow captured THEM. She took a memory from decades ago and brought it back to life with her own hands.

There’s talent… and then there’s this kind of talent. ✨

Such a beautiful and meaningful gift for my parents — and now a piece of our family history that we’ll treasure forever. ❤️

Week 2 of my quest to do ONE pull-up by my birthday 🎂💪

I’ve always thought being able to do a pull-up was ridiculously sexy. Strong, fit, capable. 💪🏽

So with 5 weeks until my birthday, I’m giving myself a goal:

ONE unassisted pull-up by my birthday.

Week 1: I can hang. 😂
And if you look VERY closely, there may have even been some upward movement.

We all have to start somewhere.

I woke up with this thought: what really is marriage, and what does it mean to me?

To me, it means being home.

My husband and I are both stubborn. We both have loud personalities. We’re very different in so many ways, yet at our core, we’re the same — fiercely loyal, and willing to do absolutely anything for our family.

I grew up in a very loving home. I was raised like a flower — nurtured, protected, and given the space to bloom and grow freely into my full potential.

And yet, it’s still ironic that when I met the man who would become my husband, it felt like I had come home.

I was instantly at ease. Content. At peace.

So much so that I actually fell asleep while we were talking — which, if you know me, is saying A LOT. 😂 I’m a very alpha personality, and relaxing enough to fall asleep around someone does not come naturally to me.

But with him, it did.

And that feeling has never really changed.

No matter where I go, no matter what life throws at us, as long as my husband is by my side, I am home.

So I guess the cliché really is true:

Home is where your heart is. ❤️
And somehow, I found mine in you.

The night before kindergarten & 2nd grade 🥹❤️

We decided to make donuts from scratch.

They came out looking like tiny cakes. 😂
The boys were thrilled.
The kitchen was destroyed.
And somehow, they were perfect.

Because one day they won’t be this little, the night before the first day of school won’t feel this big, and I’ll miss our very questionable homemade donuts. 🍩😂
