Hello from your favorite two-man team here at SF(S)! Because we deal in the opaque arts of art documentation and inkjet printing, here’s a quick studio intro for anyone who hasn’t worked with us yet:

We offer two separate, but overlapping services: art documentation and fine art digital printing.

If you need artwork photography of any kind (high-res image capture, exhibition photos, public art documentation), you’ll be working with SF(S) founder and photographer @aaronwessling (👋). You can make an appointment on our site to bring your work to the studio or you can hire him to head your way for coverage. In addition to his own practice as a fine art photographer, he has a decade of dedicated art documentation experience, and works regularly with clients like Portland Art Museum and the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation.

Rory ONeal heads up the SF(S) print studio, where we specialize in fine art digital printing for artists and photographers (gicleé/pigment/inkjet). Rory is an excellent fine art photographer, master printer, and was a longtime member at @blackfish_gallery. We use the finest archival inks and offer a well-considered line of museum quality papers. We know the printing process is daunting, and we’re here to hold your hand through every step of the process. Every file that enters the studio and every print that leaves has been inspected by one or both of us. We aren’t an online print-to-order shop and take pride in that. Our goal is to move with intention and care through every project. If you choose to work with us, I think you’ll see that the quality and color fidelity reflects it.

We plan to post some additional BTS posts soon to take you inside the process , but- for now- thanks for following along and we hope to see you at the studio sometime soon! taken in Central Eastside Industrial District by @singlefile_studio

Single File is a space where your work of art is turned into pixels and print with clarity and care, where documentation & reproduction isn’t an afterthought but a continuation of the life of the work. Whether you’re an established artist or passionate beginner, our mission is to capture the spirit of your artwork with careful attention to color and form, and to produce stunning prints that preserve your original creative act in a lasting physical form.

A huge thanks to friend of SFS and filmmaking GOAT @summer.luu for this wonderful BTS vid of a recent in-studio documentation & reproduction session with local visual artist @robertaaylward. The session started with high-res, color accurate capture and ended with an archival reproduction on @cansoninfinity Arches 88 cotton rag. 🖼️ 🖨️ ✨

One of the documentation highlights of the past year was a series of visits to @portlandartmuseum to photograph the prized Monet’s Waterlillies painting (1914-1915) while it underwent conservation to remove an acrylic resin varnish that had been applied by a collector decades ago. I made three visits- pre-treatment, mid-treatment, and after treament- to document the progress of Lead Conservator Charlotte Ameringer’s methodical work of restoring the painting to Monet’s original vision. Documentation included a series of lighting approaches during each visit, including UV documentation. If you’re interested in learning more about the conservation process and the back story on the Monet, I’ll drop a link to an article that goes further in depth in my stories. Grateful to PAM and Charlotte for bringing me on for his one. What a treat.

Every work of art deserves to be reproduced faithfully. Printed on Canson® Infinity ARCHES® 88 paper, this piece by Roberta Aylward captures every subtle tone and delicate detail with remarkable accuracy. Produced by the Canson® Infinity Certified Print Lab ProLab Single File (USA) @singlefile_studio, the print embodies their belief that reproduction is not an afterthought, but an extension of the artwork’s existence, preserving the artist’s creative vision in a tangible form.

The word support comes from the Latin words meaning “to carry” and “from below”. @singlefile_studio documented this work (Lift, 2026) so well. This feature was used to bring heavy car parts up to the former auto repair shop that is now the upstairs exhibition space of @onegrandgallery. by @singlefile_studio

Event documentation by SF(S) photographer @aaronwessling of the wonderful @stilllife.pdx fundraiser at @asometimesgallery back in May. The event, organized by @mariah_bn, raised $7000 for @pirc_oregon and featured 96 original works from local artists based on a single still life arrangement by @sweetbbcorn.

It was a joy to spend a recent morning with local artist @jamespage_studio at their floating home studio in Portland, Oregon. Page, a member of @waterstonegallery with an exhibition planned for September 2026, hand cuts and transforms their 35mm photo prints into meticulous collaged works.

For the full gallery, you can head over to the most recent Flat Files entry on the SF(S) site. Link in bio. by @singlefile_studio
