this is a practice run for posting on linkedin and i’m not even joking!!

i’m wrapping up a 3-month climate fellowship with @climate.base in the next few weeks, and i have so many thoughts, they just keep coming; this isn’t the platform for all those though

i’ve intentionally/serendipitously created a ‘sabbatical’ for myself in a heaving job market, and that felt terrible at first and now feels okay i guess (yet i personally feel very alive; we’ll see!). precarity is probably going to be central to all of our lives for the rest of them, no matter how insulated we are from that now. i’d rather be with the precarious certainly

i love working freelance and have been lucky to do it for some years now. it’s always been a weaving wandering journey and i’ve never tried to direct it, so shifting more intentionally into work in climate feels like (as i’ve said to you if i’ve seen you recently) planting seeds that will grow in time. ‘climate’ is a broad umbrella, and there are many ways to commit. and it’s unknown which seeds sprout or how long they take to do so! it requires faith

i’ve learned through this process that i have more connections to this type of work than i realized. this post is actually for you. if you’re doing work in this realm already: get in touch! and if you’re not in this realm already but are curious, this post is for you too! i love learning about it, sharing what i’ve learned so far, disassociating, and then coming back again. i’m so curious to see where we are six months, a year, five years, fifty years from now. i would like to feel like i tried. and i would like for your great-grandkids to not have to fight in the water wars. they still might, but everybody loves an underdog by @singleportrait

i want us all to leave this platform and build a more beautiful world. i made a site for the book “a pattern language”, which has 253 themes for why some places feel more alive—and how to fix broken ones. the site links together all these patterns so you can jump from idea to idea so freely. and there are a lot of ideas! thank you friends and fate and the authors for bringing this book into my life. i have more dreams for growing this site and would also like to hear yours! what’s your favorite pattern? mine are maybe window place (180) or stair seats (125). ♡ by @singleportrait

hi hungry new yorkers (and those passing through…)—i made a lil website you might enjoy. i’ve always enjoyed the new yorker’s restaurant reviews: unexpected picks, open-mindedness, and often a bit of cheeky nyc attitude. but, i always wanted a map to go along with them, since i can never remember which ones i want to visit. so, i made one!

i also wanted to share some of the process that goes into it, a peek into what it looks like to make a website. to-do lists, of course, but also v1 prototypes to make sure my ideas are technically feasible, inspiration gathering, and design explorations. and then of course building out the site, plus a nice admin for managing it all. and because i’m easily distracted, i wrote a weekly script that uploads the latest reviews, so i don’t have to remember to do it myself :)

i’m also sharing the breakdown of hours that went into it, as i find it super informative to track these as well! this one had a lot of fun javascript play, while the rest of it came together quite quickly.

link in bio if you wanna explore and get 🤤. and lmk if you want more features!! or to go try some new foods 😋 by @singleportrait

hello new website alert! 💦 it’s been a pleasure to build a new platform for @khaliladouze, as she looks to evolve her tarot and artistic practice. water is a very powerful element in her work, so we wanted to make a watery & wavy experience to match! highly recommend one of her readings - i am looking forward to her special new year spread as always. go book one now!

i’ve pushed myself this summer to both make new friends and to dance more, even with a mask. this weekend was so rewarding as i felt more connected than ever to the music and my raver cuties. i left my phone in the cabin all weekend but happy to see everyone’s sweet photos and videos. here is some full moon—that’s all i captured. i can’t wait to sleep and drink tea all week as i quarantine in absolute silence lol by @singleportrait
