Celebrating #WorldOceansDay with a tribute to Anilao, Philippines — my dive home base 🤍🏠 ! Home to hundreds of Nudibranch species and some of the most unusual marine critters in the planet, the center for great macro photographers globally, with over 40 dive sites (and some of the homiest resorts and people!) — there’s always something new and exciting in Anilao. 🌏🤿

From rising pollution, acidification of ocean water, rising average temperatures, to a reduction in ocean biodiversity. Through spreading awareness, World Ocean Day hopes to protect the Earth's major water bodies. The theme for World Ocean Day 2022 is “Revitalisation: Collective Action for the Ocean” 🌊🐚

This video was part of the host work I did with @mabinitourism @dotdivephilippines @iamianbueno together with @fordphilippines @antwannne @garminph.

This October we celebrate WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY ✨

Our home should be a safe space where we can take a breath, recharge, and a place of compassion for ourselves and others. We are invited to extend kindness, small acts that carry lasting change because we will never know what it’s like to walk in another’s shoes.

As are called to grow and care for one another, let’s help protect the most vulnerable, our children, our disaster-prone communities. Keep demanding accountability, supporting funding, and bring experts, youth, and people with lived experiences to design laws and policies that bring real change.

Thank you to @mentalhealthph @rdahildahil_ @gibsmacked for giving me the opportunity to collaborate, to all the volunteers, Human Books and experts that have taken the time out of their weekends to make this possible. 🩷

Funny how we’ve learned to turn pain into productivity. 🙃

But through UNICEF Philippines’ U-Report poll and a deeper focus group discussion with young Filipinos earlier this year, what came through about climate anxiety wasn’t just fear but also frustration.

Frustration at being told to log into class while a typhoon hits. At waiting mid-commute for a suspension announcement that comes too late. At relief that arrives weeks after the flood. At being told “don’t panic” by systems that never teach you how not to.

‼️ And their worry is rarely just for themselves. It’s for younger siblings, parents abroad, neighbors, even the pets left behind.

Climate anxiety isn’t a disorder. It’s a reasonable response to a real threat, made heavier when the systems meant to protect us are slow to show up. 🤲🏻

Young Filipinos are already stepping up: volunteering, organizing, advocating. That strength deserves support, not to be taken for granted.

‼️What would help:
🌱 Emotional literacy and real coping tools in schools, not just drills
🌱 Psychosocial care as part of disaster response
🌱 Faster, clearer action from LGUs when disasters hit
🌱 Youth voices at the table where climate decisions are made
Kids shouldn’t have to turn pain into productivity. Climate grief needs systems, not just strength.

Great dining at Le Bon Georges @le_bon_georges, rue Saint-Georges, Paris 9th. They do the most delicious homemade seasonal cooking, source fresh from small farmers and have nearly 2000 wines (they had a huge wine bible). 🍷🥩🧀

- Filet de boeuf Normand, Sauce aux poives, frites maison

Biking around Paris during autumn to get the best view of the Eiffel Tower. It was an electric bike too, so easy on the knees. 🚲

I’m making new memories in Paris. My first trip here was the first time I had really felt I was depressed. I promised myself I’d never visit Paris again. It’s still triggering me… it’s my 2nd visit now since and I’m now making space.🩷🍂

Visiting the local supermarket abroad is a cultural experience. 🇫🇷 Seeing what’s affordable, how food is presented and the differences in packaging, too.
