I hate the term forest bathing. We evolved in the forest and then in the plains, of course we feel better when we're in nature. We've created this weird separation between us and the natural world, and then created these weird chic terms like 'grounding' when in reality always been very much a part of it. We can't exist without it. Being outside and rediscovering your connection with wild places, or even a green space near your house, will improve your mental health, your physical health, and make your life feel so different. by @siobhan

The forest is my home. In fact, it's all of ours. We evolved here, whether you've lost that connection or not. Today is International Day of Forests and on this day to honor the places that give us the air that we breathe, filter the water that we drink and keep it from flooding our towns and cities, host the vast majority of the world's species, regulate climate, and so much more - I'd like to tell you how much I loathe the term 'tree hugger'. Given we cannot survive without oxygen — and trees supplement us with most of our oxygen — how frail in one's masculinity does one have to be to think that showing a level of reverence to the living thing that sustains our life is weak, or in any way shameful? I'm not saying you have to literally hug a tree. But come on. If you don't understand that forests are the backbone of our entire planet, you're a complete and utter fool. If you're still reading this, it might interest you to know that forests are a lot more intelligent than we thought. Turns out trees of all species in a forest communicate and even share resources with one another underground through fungal networks. They elicit stress signals to warn each another when pests are near and if a tree is struggling or dying, another (even of a different species!) often will share life-saving nutrients with it.Our forests are in serious trouble. In my province alone we have 3% of our old growth left. Old growth might just sound like a familiar buzzword to you, but it has real meaning. Those ecosystems are extremely important, and those trees will never grow back once cut. Countless species depend on them to survive and will go extinct without them.Take a pledge with me to learn more about forests in your areas. Whether it's going for a walk and looking up one or two of the plants or animals that you see there and learning about them briefly , or taking some photos to share with your friends what a special place it is, or reading a book or even a couple pages of a book... It's up to all of us to learn about our wild places so that we can advocate for them. by @siobhan

I recently joined @worldanimalprotectioncanada on an incredible visit to Costa Rica to witness the beauty of the Golfo Dulce Whale Heritage Area firsthand.Whale Heritage Areas (like all Wildlife Heritage Areas) empower local communities to protect wildlife. These areas provide a real solution to the wildlife exploitation for profit that has been normalized in the tourism industry. This solution is good for animals, people and the planet. But protected places like Golfo Dulce don’t exist by accident. That’s why I’m proud to be an ambassador for World Animal Protection Canada. They support projects like this one that keep animals wild while helping communities build alternatives that actually work.Right now, World Animal Protection Canada is raising funds to help create more protected places like Golfo Dulce. If you’d like to support their work, please consider making a donation. Sharing this post also helps us raise awareness and reach even more people who care about protecting animals and our precious planet.Use the link in my bio to join me in helping choose a kinder future for animals.@WorldCetaceanAlliance#WhaleHeritageAreas #WildlifeHeritageAreas by @siobhan

Well, @netflix picked up our beloved show.Season one, I mean. What kind of show that only has one season gets this kind of press almost 10 years later? A really really special one, I'll tell you that much. Definitely not too late to make more seasons, in my opinion... What do you think?#deadlyclass #staydeadly by @siobhan

Costa Rica is a country absolutely teeming with beauty — in its wildlife, its lush rainforests, and its people. @cielolodge is the epitome of all of those things, boasting a stunningly designed lodge filled with people who feel like old friends —all centred deep in the heart of the jungle. Words cannot express how special this place is, or how many things you can take in in just one day. Mind you, a day would never be enough.Thank you for having us Keith, Nicole, Delia, and everyone else who makes this place what it is. Until next time 🤍Photos of me by my boo @jessfindlay by @siobhan

Appreciation post for one of my favorite people on this planet. Happy birthday you angel — thank you for always being there for me, reminding me to celebrate the little things and have fun in this weird world, and being an endless well of inspiration in so many ways. Tempted to put a ring on it....but I'll try to remain respectful. (For now). Love you @dontevenknowher by @siobhan

Recently, I had the chance to visit Golfo Dulce Whale Heritage Area in Costa Rica – an area where communities have come together to protect whales, dolphins and the entire marine ecosystem they depend on. It was a strong reminder that travel can either take from a place — or help protect it. 🐋 ✈️ Here are a few simple principles I ALWAYS travel by: 1. Skip animal entertainment 2. Support real sanctuaries, not roadside zoos 3. Choose eco-friendly places to stay 4. Try local, plant-based meals 5. Respect wildlife and local cultures We all have the power to make travel kinder. When we choose responsibly, our adventures don’t just create memories but also help protect the world we’re so lucky to explore. 🔥 It’s 2026. Ethical travel should be the norm. There are always ways to see animals without supporting captivity.Whale Heritage Areas (WHAs) put wildlife first by promoting responsible whale and dolphin watching, reducing human impact and keeping animals in the wild. 🐋Supporting WHAs also means supporting the local communities empowered to take the lead in conservation, ensuring that tourism directly supports the protection of wildlife and natural habitats. And it’s about connection. WHAs celebrate culture by recognizing the traditions, stories and livelihoods tied to whales and the sea. 🌊By choosing ethical travel and supporting WHAs like Golfo Dulce, you help create a future where whales, dolphins and coastal communities can thrive together.
