BETTY APPLE’s art (and music) focuses on using body politics and performativity as her framework and drawing on her lived experience as a millennial living in post-colonial Taiwan, her work appropriates symbolic objects from kitsch culture and consumer society as sound elements; mass-produced objects intended for eroticism or entertainment, such as vibrators, underwear or part of sexbot’s body are carried inside the body through violent and grotesque means.
Her aim is to study the chaotic and hysterical “noise text” that is created from input to output, distorted by dynamics introduced by humans as well as objects. The main idea is to symbolise what is repressed by the seemingly perfect/accurate sound of science and patriarchy.

WEYÓN is a Latine/Greek experimental musician and performer working between the extremities of horror and wonder.

Beyond their practice and live performance, Weyón is one of the initiators of OFFERING, an event series centred on immersive, boundary-pushing sound practices, with its second edition forthcoming.

LAURA KING is a soprano and performance artist working between opera, art song, and experimental practice. With roots in classical training and a long-standing connection to Berlin’s independent scene, she repositions opera outside traditional theatres, into warehouses, galleries, bush settings, and clubs.

Her work is visually driven and collaborative, integrating costume, light, and movement to reframe operatic form through contemporary, often anti-institutional lenses. Moving fluidly between concert stage and underground space, she treats voice as both instrument and spatial force, shaping performances that are immediate, embodied, and site-responsive.

This will be SIRC_UIT’s last event in Lawson, on Dharug and Gundungurra Land for now.
We will be relocating to Naarm, on Wurundjeri Land by mid 2026.
