Still floating. 🌈👑

Last night I opened for the Queen of Bounce, BIG FREEDIA, on the historic Hawaii Theatre stage for Honolulu Pride, and I’m still trying to find the words.

Singing songs from SHAPESHIFTER to that room, with all of you giving me your eyes & ears, is something I will carry with me forever. Thank you to who Mahalo nui to everyone who came early, danced, filmed, and sent love. 💚 Thank you @thereverendravage for your help backstage plus thanks to @misscatwings & @baduy_comedian for the beautiful lei.

Huge mahalo to @hawaiitheatre, @honolulupride and the whole crew for making it happen — most especially to @masterdungeonmistress for EVERYTHING — to my incredible friends @neminamoon & @goodjob808 who joined me on stage, and of course to @bigfreedia for bringing the bounce to Honolulu. 🍑

And we’re not done! Come see me this Sunday at @honolulumuseum for Pride Family Sunday with @misstaraway as well as this year’s USQ Winner @thelucasbrand. It’s FREE for Hawaiʻi residents. 🎨

I’m so grateful to share this evening with these performers and to be part of something this special during Honolulu Pride Week.

And if you’ve been following my journey, you know this album began with an actual dream. Tonight feels like another beautiful reminder of what can happen when you trust the magic and follow where it leads. ❤️

TWO DAYS UNTIL BIG FREEDIA! 🔥🌈

This Thursday, October 15, we’re taking over the historic Hawaii Theatre, and I want YOU there!

I’ll be performing music from my newly released 15-track album, SHAPESHIFTER, with special guest musicians Nemina Moon and GJ Ganotisi, as part of an incredible night headlined by the one and only BIG FREEDIA!

PLUS, preshow performances by Haus of Zamora and the UHM Hip Hop Dance Group!

I talk a little in this video about how SHAPESHIFTER came into being because I chose to follow an actual dream I had. Not a metaphorical dream. An honest-to-goodness dream.

And now, watching all of these extraordinary things unfold, I can’t help feeling like the universe is responding to that leap of faith.

Sometimes you have to act on the magic before the magic fully reveals itself. ✨

Speaking of which…

My new website is LIVE!

Visit sirdanpaul.com to stream SHAPESHIFTER on your favorite platform and explore the lyrics, album notes, promotional photos, and more.

This record has been a long time coming, and I’d love for you to spend some time with it.

But FIRST — let’s fill that theatre on Thursday and make some NOISE for BIG FREEDIA!

See you there, Honolulu. Let’s make a little history. ❤️

“Shapeshifter” is the most autobiographical song I’ve ever written. When I was a little kid in Wichita Falls, I had a visitor: a tall angel standing over my right shoulder, calm as anything, preparing me for the world. He came back once more in junior high, when I needed him most, and told me I was going to live a fun, beautiful, exciting life. I just had to hold on.

He wasn’t wrong. 🌺

This song is me claiming every version of myself, all the voices inside me at once: “a pretty good kisser, a dyed-in-the-wool anti-establishment drifter,” doing my best to keep my heart from going bitter. That’s why it sits at the center of the album and gives it its name.

SHAPESHIFTER is OUT NOW 🖤

Here’s a little taste of “Big Man” — a song about fear, power, the stories we inherit, and what happens when we start questioning the stories we were handed.

SHAPESHIFTER is 15 songs about coming back to yourself. About identity, desire, magic, anger, compassion, insecurity, resilience, and the strange, beautiful work of becoming someone new.

If you haven’t heard it yet, I’d love for you to take the journey.
