I've been working on this piece for almost three months and have probaly spent about 300 hours on it, mixing colors by hand for the perfect ombre, going layer by layer to make sure the UV paint was fully opaque with no uneven splotches, seeking out multichromes and iridescent clear coats to add some extra pizzazz without ruining the UV effect, and I don't think I've ever been more satisfied with how a piece turned out.
I'm one of those people who has fully three dimensional mental images, and I get a very clear picture in my mind of what I want something to look like from the minute I have an idea for any given artform. I do not, however, always have the talent to fully realize what I see in my mind. Over the years I've had to learn how to be satisfied with my living work and what I'm actually capable of bringing to fruition, even if it doesn't quite embody what my perfectionist mind had envisioned.

This time though, I am so, so pleased with how each element of this piece came together for one of my most beloved friend's golden birthdays, especially with the passing of his father just before.

A UV reactive and iridescent and multichrome peacock feather plus glow-in-the-dark and iridescent wisps of peacock feathers on the edges for the beautiful soul that is my Brenden Peacock.

This video shows the glowing feather wisps on the edges, to the UV reactive main feather, and a glimpse of the iridescent and multichrome top coats in LED lighting.

A quick video of the clear iridescent finishes that went over the top of the uv main feather to add the iridescence that real peacock feathers have! The eye of the feather also has multichrome streaks through it in coordinating colors to a real peacock feather in order to give it the correct texture of a real peacock feather, as well as the iridescence, but without blocking out or dulling the uv paint.

Renaissance Festival 2026.
