Over the summer, I officially became full-time in my role at @wnyc!

When I first started this job as a part-timer earlier this year, I knew I was going to enjoy it, but it turned out to be more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined.

On a daily basis, I wear many hats, from producing audio content to helping sound engineer our live recording sessions with guest artists, lighting and live directing cameras for the videos that go on our socials, audio and video editing, writing episode descriptions, reviewing music submissions, and so much more!

Here are the shows and segments I co-produce regularly with my incredible core team, John Schaefer & @caryn_aych, and our technical director @irenetrudel :

A couple of months ago I went to San Francisco for the first time for a very special reason ⚽️

I’ve been working so hard this year and this was a beautiful highlight of my summer so far. I went to see the Türkiye-Paraguay game with my dad, stayed a couple of days to explore the city—just a quick recharge and back to work!

Taking an actual vacation in a week and I can’t wait 💃🏻

I’m happy to announce that I started a new chapter last month at @wnyc as the part-time Assistant Producer for @newsounds!

I’ve been a fan of New Sounds and its Soundcheck podcast for some time, and it’s SO exciting to have a meaningful opportunity to amplify music and artists I love. This matters to me more now than ever in the age of AI chaos. As a musician, I can’t think of a better way to serve my community.

I’m continuing to work on my music projects outside of NYPR, chipping away at the songs on my computer that are waiting to be released soon. In the meantime, I’m so grateful to the folks at NYPR for welcoming me with open arms and every collaborator and supporter who have been so patient with me during this transitional time.

Here’s to championing honest-to-god, good music! 🥂

2025 was the year @ianbarnett_drums and I had our special Istanbul wedding, a lovely Kapadokya trip with family and friends, and a sweet honeymoon in Montenegro. I spent some quality time in familiar places like Bodrum, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Houston, visited Niagara Falls in New York and Winter Park in Florida... Attended a bunch of weddings… Released a song called “Beyaz” that I wrote for my own wedding… I guess you could say love was in the air!

This was also the year my first @splice pack, SIRMA’s Vocal Palette, and my second @bandlab pack, SIRMA Presents Vocal Chords, dropped. I lent my vocals to the @goturkiye miniseries, Istanbul My Love, on the beautiful score composed by @oguzkaplangi & @serkan_celikoz. Featuring on @oguzkaplangi’s @creativescots - funded records “Sirens and Statues” and “Not Walking Away”, and toplining a track from @bibliothequemusic’s Adventures in Anatolia compilation album titled “Ah Sevda” (produced by @krol_scharber) were among the highlights of the year.

In 2025, I stepped into my role as a record producer a bit more confidently. @aegeamezzo and I worked more closely together. She released the first batch of songs that she, I, and so many other talented musicians have been working on for a while: “Night Shift”, “Come and Find Me”, and “Bul Beni.”

There were a few other notable moments, too. I was very grateful for each opportunity to geek out about music technology in my articles for @rolandglobal, @musictech_official, and @dreamtonics. I taught a couple of workshops, had some private students in songwriting and music production, all of which were rewarding experiences.

And yet, despite all the good, I spent too much time worrying about the future, getting hung up on frustrating exchanges, or errors that could’ve been avoided. I lost my cool and perspective more times than I could count. In fact, I had one of the worst days of the year this past Sunday, which almost made me forget all the good things that happened this year. Crazy how quickly that can happen sometimes if you let it.

May 2026 be the year I learn not to lose sight of the good things.

Feeling gratitude in abundance as I reflect back on the journey of Come and Find Me. First off, I want to send love Kamau Kenyatta’s way (@kkenyatta1), because not only is he someone who lives and breathes music and inspires others to do so, but he was also the first person who heard the song in its infancy and thought it was worthwhile to flesh out and perform at a jazz ensemble showcase. He is one of three music mentors who made me feel like perhaps I have something to offer as a singer-songwriter — the other two being John Brown and Deniz Baysal.

Having said that, as with most good things in life, it takes a village to bring a song into the world, and I am beyond grateful to the village that helped me get there.
