Ara wears a custom spaghetti-strap corset gown in navy Swarovski crystal-encrusted silk mesh with deep navy velvet boning detailing and a double bust in matching deep navy velvet, paired with an oversized asymmetrical circle skirt in deep navy velvet and an attached oversized sashed bow in pink floral silk georgette.

“This gown feels so right to me and like we’ve fully returned to form. It’s a similar silhouette to something we did during our first award season together, with a modern twist. For me it reflects the growth we’ve had as partners in this fashion thing and how far we’ve come over the years, and it shows Ara’s growth as a star too. It’s spot on in so many ways. Delightfully tasteful. Approachable but grand. Dainty but strong. It’s a true award season gown, and a preview of what we’re bringing as we move into this upcoming season.”

Ara Myembi attends the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival for the debut of Shelaine

Ara wears a custom long-sleeve deep V gown in deep plum silk charmeuse with stripped ostrich feather detailing at the collar and hem.

“For Toronto, Ara insisted on something a bit more dramatic. I showed her a few old sketches and we decided to mash two ideas together : a slinky open-V long-sleeve collared gown with feather detailing that felt almost sinister. Like Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove, campy in a way but pared down and elevated. Instead of fur, we explored stripped ostrich feathers, keeping just the stem of each quill and using that as a kind of hair plug. It worked out perfectly and gave off that cartoonish, campy energy without the tackiness of fur.”

“I love working with Naisa because she knows exactly what she wants and what works for her. She mentioned she had a peridot piece she wanted to wear and shared references from Versace Haute Couture 2015 and Elie Saab Spring 2015 Couture. I drew a few sketches and we landed on something that felt exactly right. The lace was sourced in Milan last year and it was perfect for this moment.”

Zuri wears a custom sculpted halter corset bust in lavender pink rubber silicone with a exposed busk back closure, paired with a low-rise full-length satin skirt in matching lavender with an oversized draped train and side slit.

“For Goyer, we wanted to do something sexy but still soft. It felt like the perfect moment to revisit our sculpted bust concept in a softer material. There’s something almost coral-like about it, which felt perfect for Miami. For the skirt, I wanted movement and something that was fun to walk the carpet in. It’s a full-length skirt with an oversized inserted train that really trails and drapes beautifully as you move.”

“When Hauni and I chatted about the ball and the theme, she said, ‘I want to do something red, sexy, and interesting.’ After a few sketches and a walk through our archives, we landed on this ensemble that felt perfectly dramatic for the event. The fox fur capelet was the finishing touch that really brought it all together, it gives the whole look this larger than life quality that is perfectly Hauni.”
