“Hakanai” - discovering a fleeting, fragile moment

There comes a moment when you suddenly realise that life is passing by.
A moment when you catch yourself asking serious, unsettling questions: Who am I in this life? What do I want next?
This painting is about that moment.

It is about the understanding that the world around us is constantly in motion
fast, unstable, slipping away.
It flies past us while we desperately try to hold on to the past,
only to realise that it no longer exists.

I connect this feeling with nature, because nature embodies grounding and truth.
It reminds us of simplicity, of being present, of returning to ourselves.
This painting reflects a desire to pause, to slow down, to become grounded again.

And yet, only a thin, fragile thread holds us
just like in this painting
