She didn’t just arrive in Paris
She burst into it.
Joy hit her feet before the jetlag did.
She twirled in front of the hotel like the moment had been waiting for her.
Morning met her with coffee in bed and croissants that flaked like confetti.
By rooftop, she faced the Eiffel Tower, not as a tourist, but as a woman who’d prayed for this.

We are six days into summer, are you getting ready for your next trip?

Researching a destination before a trip can benefit you many ways. For starters, you can save yourself headaches by having a basic understanding of your destination - from the best neighborhoods to stay in to the easiest way to get around. Research will help you organize your trip well ahead of time. Getting to know your destination in advance can help maximize your time there and literally point you in the right direction (literally), and help you discover new gems along the way.

Researching in advance will also give you a heads up and understanding of the social and political situation which will then help you navigate cultural sensitivities and allow for more meaningful connections with locals and others in the community.

Somewhere between three and forty something we lost our joy. And now we are all trying to find it again. Our grown-up circumstances, mortgages,taxes, jobs and social media comparison have sucked the wind right out of our sails. And here we are, convinced that getting down to our college weight and maintaining a spotless home sounds like a pretty good way to be happy again. The truth is, if we take care of ourselves the same way we're nurturing everyone else, we'll find all sorts of joy and be better for everyone we love.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: Describe what joy looks like to you? What would it take to go back to that the type of heart-bursting joy you felt as a little girl?
