🧡 COMMUNITY DAY RESCHEDULED — NEW RAIN DATE! 🍂☔

At Sisters of Purpose, Inc., community is at the heart of everything we do!

Due to the forecasted rain tomorrow, we have made the decision to reschedule our Community Day to Saturday, November 21, 2026.

We recognize that many of the individuals and families we serve walk or rely on public transportation to attend our events. Being mindful of their travel, comfort, and safety is important to us. We want everyone to have the opportunity to participate and receive resources without the added challenges of inclement weather.

📅 NEW DATE: Saturday, November 21, 2026
⏰ TIME: 12 PM – 2 PM
📍 LOCATION: Corner of Hyde Park Ave. & Liberty Street, Durham, NC 27701

📚Our Sisters of Purpose scholars had another meaningful session as we engaged with Unit 9 of our Smart Girls, Smart Money curriculum!

During this session, scholars took time to reflect on their future, explore their educational and career aspirations, and think intentionally about the steps needed to turn those goals into reality. One of the most impactful moments was having our scholars share their aspirations directly with SOP Sponsor Ivy Jones . 🧡

These conversations gave our scholars an opportunity to speak confidently about where they see themselves in the future while connecting what they are learning today to the opportunities they want to create tomorrow.

At Sisters of Purpose, we believe financial literacy goes beyond learning how to manage money—it also means helping young women understand how education, career planning, preparation, and informed decisions can shape their financial futures.

We are grateful to Ivy Jones for taking the time to listen, encourage, and engage with our scholars as they continue building their goals and dreams.

The need we witnessed at our last community giveaway was truly humbling. Seeing how many individuals and families came out for clothing, toiletries, food, and other basic necessities reminded us just how important it is to continue showing up for our community. The need was so great that Sisters of Purpose Enterprise, Inc. is preparing to do it again this October.🧡

Sisters of Purpose Enterprise, Inc. (SOP) is a Durham-based nonprofit committed to empowering young women through financial literacy, mentorship, leadership development, career readiness, and community service. We also remain active in serving our broader community through clothing giveaways, food distributions, hygiene support, and outreach to individuals and families experiencing hardship.

As we prepare for our October outreach, we are grateful for volunteers, community partners, donated goods, and resources that can help us serve even more people. Current needs include new or gently used coats, blankets, hats, gloves, toiletries, nonperishable food items, gift cards, and other essential items that can directly support those in need.

One lesson we continue to stand by is this: build genuine relationships before you need something.Strong community partnerships are created through consistency, collaboration, and showing up for others—not only when your organization needs assistance.

We would love to connect with nonprofits, businesses, churches, organizations, and community members who believe in service and collective impact. Together, we can continue meeting people where they are and making a meaningful difference. 🧡

Today’s event was a SUCCESS! 🧡

From setup until the very end of the giveaway, we were truly blessed with support. The community showed up and showed OUT, and we could not be more thankful. Our goal was to leave with nothing—and that is exactly what happened. A TOTAL GIVEAWAY! 🙌🏽

It is a true blessing to be a blessing, and that is exactly what we experienced today. When you meet someone who took public transportation just to attend your event, it humbles you. It reminds you that every opportunity to serve is also an opportunity to fellowship with humility, gratitude, and PURPOSE.

Today was a collective collaboration of community members, organizations, volunteers, supporters, families, and friends who came together intentionally to make a difference. We are grateful for every person who participated through their presence, spirit, donations, promotion, encouragement, and intentional support.

Because of YOU, our community was served with love and purpose. We look forward to continuing to show up, give back, and serve our community again.

Today’s Back-to-School Giveaway at Merrick-Moore Park in partnership with The SMAC Movement and Sisters of Purpose, was truly fulfilling, eventful, and impactful! 🎒📚💙

What made today even more special was seeing our community come together in so many different ways. Sisters of Purpose members and scholars had the opportunity to connect with community members, local business owners, church members, volunteers, and other leaders who believe in pouring into our youth.

Today was about so much more than giving away school supplies. It was about building relationships, creating connections, encouraging our young people, and showing them what community support looks like in action.

The Back-to-School Giveaway reminded us that our community doesn’t just show out — we SHOW UP when literacy, leadership, mentorship, and sponsorship matter.🙌🏾

We are grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, partnered, networked, shared resources, and simply came out to support. When organizations and community leaders work together with a common purpose, the impact reaches far beyond one event.

This month’s Sisters of Purpose lesson was Build Credit with Character! 🤎🧡💛

Our scholars learned how responsible financial habits, integrity, and thoughtful decision-making can help build and maintain strong credit. Each scholar also completed the Credit Habits Pledge, committing to making informed and responsible financial choices.

💳 SOP Financial Literacy Session: Understanding Credit

Our Sisters of Purpose scholars participated in an engaging credit education session led by Mrs.Michelle Cromartie, owner of Lighting Made Heavenly Candle Company and proud SOP member.

Michelle taught the scholars about credit utilization, debt-to-income ratios, responsible credit card use, and the importance of building personal and business credit. Through mock credit card activities and real-world debt scenarios, the scholars practiced making informed financial decisions and learned how credit choices can affect future opportunities.

The session became even more meaningful when Kennedi Omonijo, a rising high school senior, honor roll student, and owner of 2Wick Candle Company, shared her entrepreneurial experience. Michelle and Kennedi discussed the cost of materials compared with production expenses, pricing products for profit, and how business credit can help a company grow.

We are proud to expose our scholars to practical financial knowledge and real-world business experiences that prepare them to become confident, financially informed leaders and entrepreneurs. 🤎🧡💛

Today would have been our mother’s 72nd birthday, and each year on her birthday, we honor her in a way that reflects who she was.

Our mother, Rose M. Singleton, had a heart for service. She loved boldly—whether it was her signature leopard print scarf giveaways, salad preparations,cornbread and greens mix,her favorite hot wings, or, most importantly, her unwavering commitment to helping the underserved in our community.

Her passion for serving others led her to create Sisters of Purpose, a vision rooted in empowerment, compassion, and purpose.

In 2024, my brother Naim Singleton and I made the decision to continue the work she started and carry her legacy forward through Sisters of Purpose.

Today, in honor of our mother, we will celebrate her the way she would have wanted—by serving others. We are purchasing toiletries for the underserved community as part of an upcoming clothing drive and meal outreach.

We do this in loving memory of Rose M. Singleton—a woman whose life reminded us that true purpose is found in serving others.

May her legacy continue to live on. 🤎

To everyone who has reached out, asked questions, or expressed interest in joining our Young Scholars Program, we are looking forward to connecting with you.

We also want to provide our criteria clearly for everyone. Sisters of Purpose is designed to serve and uplift the overlooked high-achieving girl who desires a better future, meaningful community, leadership growth, and a true sisterhood of purpose.

We are looking for young girls who are:

✨ Between the ages of 13–18 years old
✨ High achievers in school
✨ Motivated, ambitious, and ready to grow
✨ Interested in community service and giving back
✨ Open to sisterhood, leadership, and personal development

At SOP, we are here to encourage, prepare, and walk alongside young scholars as they grow into the leaders they are called to be.

Today we celebrate one of our very own Amira Davis! 🎓✨

Congratulations to Amira on graduating from Apex High School today! We are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished.

Amira has been a part of Sisters of Purpose Enterprise Inc. since her sophomore year, and during that time she has consistently exemplified what it means to be a stellar scholar. She has been an outstanding advocate for community service, a leader among her peers, and a shining example of dedication, discipline, and purpose.

Graduating cum laude is an incredible achievement, but that’s not all—Amira has also earned a full scholarship to North Carolina State University, where she will major in Science, Technology, and Society (STS), B.S.📚💻🔬

Amira, we want you to know that we will forever be proud sponsors and supporters of your journey. Watching your growth has been an honor, and we know this is only the beginning of the amazing things ahead for you.
