POSTS STORIES REELS

⚡️ @laurieandersonofficial calling #SistersWithTransistors a « right on film » at her Harvard’s Norton Lecture in December 2021.

Laurie Anderson is an American avant-garde composer, artist and film director working at the crossroad of performance art, experimental cinema and pop music. Born on June 5, 1947 and initially trained in violin and sculpting, she started pursuing a variety of performance art projects in the 70’s, often in collaboration with other renowned artists of the New-York avant-garde scene. A pioneer in electronic music, more widely know outside of the art world for her single « O Superman », she invented several music devices that she has used in her recording and live performances, participating in the expansion of the genre and its sonic and performative possibilities.

« The story of women in electronics hasn’t really been told. But fortunately there is a film that recently came out, called Sisters With Transistors. A lot of people in the film are women that I met at electronic festivals in Europe in the 70’s and 80’s when we were all doing experimental electronics, something that hasn’t really seem to register in the history books. » - @laurieandersonofficial about #SistersWithTransistors during her Norton Lecture on December 2021.
