I always enjoy jhala practice - there are infinite worlds of rhythm and melody that can be combined, and the best moments happen when we let the music guide us 🙏🏽

We just have just launched our first album together! @nikolajhess and I met several years ago in Copenhagen, and from the very first time we played together, we noticed that something magical was happening. Our music, like any good conversation, is about human connection, and is improvised on the fly. We have woven together melodic sketches in the space where North Indian Classical meets Scandinavian jazz and folk traditions, to see what emerges.

We hope it brings beauty into your life and a few moments of peace!

Flexible Destinies is streaming now on all platforms, and we hope that you can join us this Sunday (11 Oct.) at @earshotjazz in Seattle for the launch concert!

Drums: @mikkelhessimponderabilia
Mix/Master: @neilvg @airshiplaboratories
Recording Engineering: @thevillagerecording @vang361
Cover Art: @edwardmrossel

Time to pause and take 2 minutes to stop scrolling, relax, and let the music reset your nervous system with this short alaap excerpt from Raag Hindol Hem ✨

It is crazy to think that a brief two minutes is ‘too long’. Social media has trained us that anything worth saying should be said in under a minute and a half, and to get our art out there, we have to conform to that format. Sometimes, we need to slow down and go deeper into a single piece of music or art, rather than rapidly scrolling.
