I had the pleasure of working with @DollyParton. I was doubling Randy Quaid on Frank McKlusky C.I., and I had to fall off a moving van, land chest first at Dolly’s feet.
Before I performed this stunt, Dolly was very worried for me. I told her that I’ll be fine, and I unzipped my outfit to show her I was wearing a double chest pad. She taps on my pad a few times and then opens up her jacket and with her shirt on she sticks out her chest and says “One good turn deserves another”. My jaw dropped, and I said aloud “Where are my friends now to hear this”, and on the other side of the van, I hear this voice in a Texas southern drawl say, “I heard it, Bubba, I heard it”! And there was David Hugghins, and I was so happy that I had a witness to this conversation. I replied to Dolly that “I’m a boob man and it would take me a year to get off of those suckers”. She reached up, pinched my cheek and said, “Bubba you’re so sweet”. Then she said that she trusts me that I’m going to be OK.
On another stunt, I had a fall straight as a board forward to the ground, like a tree. I was supposed to have been in a coma for 20 years, so my hair, beard and nails were all long. I had Lee Press on Nails and I was moving a pad after rehearsal. I break a nail which hurt like hell, and asked Dolly how often she breaks her nails. She looks at my nails and then says, “Oh honey, mine aren’t that cheap”.
She was amazingly nice, funny, and humble. I’m very lucky to have spent time with her. Godspeed!! by @sitarztim
