Today we ran/walked at University of La Verne’s homecoming fun run 5k. The wifey walked with her sorority sister and fellow ULV alum, while I ran/walked with her daughter. It was a mixture of running between a 7:45-9:00 min pace and walking at about a 15-16 min pace.

This is our 3rd 5k run/walk in a month for the wifey and me.

You’ve heard of Jordan’s “Flu Game” but have you heard of SithRoast_runner’s “5k Flu run”?

I’ve been fighting the flu since Monday and actually felt good today. All that went to hell as soon as i started running. My head got hot and felt like it was going to explode. Needless to say there was a lot of walking being done! When I finally got to the finish line I felt like I was going to puke my lungs out and couldn’t stop coughing! But did you die? 🤘🏾👊🏾🔥

Although we had been married 4 years prior (Oct. 12, 2005); 17 years ago today, Hilda and I said “I do” in front of God, family and our closest friends. These are some of my favorite pictures from that special day.

The picture of my parents sitting in the pew has always been one of my favorite pictures. I can’t believe how one simple picture has so many interpretations. My parents lived by their vow of “till death do us part” as they were married for over 50 years and were only separated after my dad passed in 2021. I used this picture of them for not only his funeral but also my mom’s funeral which was a little over 4 years later.

The picture for me showed my mom’s religious faith as it appears to me like she is praying for my dad while having her hand on his shoulder.

Today, I honor their love and faith by having this photo tattooed on my chest. It will always remind me of their unbreakable love for each other and my continued love for Hilda. I pray to God that I will live long enough to be able to celebrate our 50th anniversary.

Happy Anniversary my love!! Till death do us part!

I would also like to thank @tattoo_silent for his great work as a tattoo artist in making this portrait come to life! If anyone is looking to get some ink done. I highly recommend you give him a follow!! by @sithroast_runner

Soda Stereo closing out the show with Musica Ligera at the forum last night. by @sithroast_runner

Ran 5.67 miles today which is roughly 9.11 km in remembrance of 9-11. Combine today’s run with yesterday’s 3.43 miles in honor of the 343 fallen firefighters during 9-11 and my total mileage equals just about 9.11 miles.

Hope everyone does their part in remembering 9-11 today, whatever that may be for you. For those that weren’t born back then or have kids that were born after; i recommend you watch the Netflix documentary Generation 9-11. It interviews family members of those that were lost that day.

When I left the Marine Corps I was in a dark place that music was the only thing that kept me going!! It’s the reason that I run with my metal music blasting. Without getting into specifics it was a place that I was in for a long time. It was not until I met my wife and had kids that I got back on the “straight” path. I am posting this because September is Suicide Awareness month!

This clip is from @goodcharlotteband set during last Sunday’s concert. @benjaminmadden took a brief moment to speak about suicide prevention and how we should all be here for anyone that needs help. While I was recording the clip and listening to his message it reinforced my belief on how music lyrics no matter what genre you listen to, always have a special place and meaning for all of us!
