Not all heroes wear capes. This Frenchie wears a bowtie.

Frenchie Brando joined our family not long after our bigger black Rottweiler Brando left us gracefully on the first days of Dog’s Year in Chinese calendar few years back.

FB cheered us with his cuter posture and gesture, as if he knows that we were still in grief after his predecessor’s departure.

We also felt happy believing that we rescued him from a less homier place.

@ndlu_tan was offered by his friend two Frenchies to choose and he instinctively connected to Fresno’s (his official name) kind and conflict-avoidance personality thus decided firmly to pick him.

The connection was confirmed by the tricks, the commands, that sometimes only my brother could perform towards FB. But the secret recipe for everyone else was a tennis ball.

Not 100% of his attention though, because he would approach you with a locked sight to the ball.

FB would then listen to some of ‘sit’ commands and 3 seconds later he stood back up to get closer to the ball. by @sitobu

Despite the laughter and fun we had (maybe FB was more on the annoyed side) the disconnection got me thinking so I decided to consult with an animal communicator to understand FB's feelings and thoughts.

We tended to speak louder when FB was not listening but that only made him close his ears even tighter.

We also learned how to pet him and to be more comfortable with his jerky suspicious gesture against our approaching hands.

Our loves to FB grew along with our acceptance to our 12yo-ish Big Brando’s passing.

@tomatomabozu even casted him as the main supporting character in her cartoon series.

His comical poses got us into "caption this" moments fantasising what he could have been thinking or daydreaming.

But what used to bring us and FB closer turned into a falling brick in the face.

He looked like he was only sleeping while guarding a tennis ball, the ball we used to call him over and now to send him goodbye peacefully.

My brain was working awkwardly processing FB's cute sleeping pose and the fact that he was not waking up despite the tennis ball on his nose. by @sitobu

Today marks the 40-ish days after FB's departure due to heatstroke.

FB passed away in less than 24 hours after being registered into a vet. We were shocked , speechless, and grieving in guilt.

😢

FB's passing has changed the way I treat the guard dog living outside my room.

I started to shower the dog regularly, to prevent his body temperature from going too high during these sunny days.

FB made us learn, FB taught us patience, FB touched our hearts, FB agreed to show up at my wedding as the Best Dog in the last minute anointment. FB is the hero.

RIP Fresno, tell big Brando we say hi.

Run and play with the ball as long as you like.

It is cooler now up there.

Thank you for your service, sir! by @sitobu

"Patah Tumbuh, Hilang Berganti"

Semoga harga film turun. Amin.

@jipfest 2025 recap #onfilm

JIPFEST (Jakarta International Photo Festival) is not only about photographs. It is a visual narrative party organized and curated by deep minds I met from @pannafoto and @panna___lab community.

This year’s “COEXISTENCE” theme seemed to present thought-provoking views how new emerging worlds — one of which of course represented by vast development of AI — can or can not bring progress in humanity seen from several interesting perspectives around the globe.

The festival consists of mainly multi-sensory photo exhibition and installation, public lectures, exclusive international-caliber workshops, collectibles photobooks, and informal catchups with people from diverse backgrounds.

These photos are some personal favorite features from the festival, resulted from a courage I learned and cherished from being around the community, that subjectivity is welcome and open to express without judgement.

World Unplugging Day 2025

It was a beautiful Saturday spent with beautiful minds at a beautiful place.

We gathered in a wooden reading hut, celebrating a no-screen day by reading, drawing, but six of us opted to explore the dreamy White-House-alike Pak Gita’s School of Government and Public Policy campus in a sweater weather of Sentul.

The place felt quite remote and unreachable so we could manifest the unplugging completely.

Thanks to @gamechangers.id committee and car owners to provide carpooling service for us public transport loyalists so we can join the event last March 8th.

The rain poured just as predicted after around 14PM noise-cancelling our bursting laughters during an intense trivia quiz about Endgame’s episodes.

Quite an inspiration to have a spacious personal reading room in the middle of junglish house.🤞🤞

I am thankful to have experienced meeting this reforming community members, some of whom are the brilliant poeple behind Endgame podcast.

A good decision of mine bringing the film camera to document our first encounter.
