The Magnificent Baling 100 (TMB100) 2026 πŸ™‚

TMB100 2026 was never part of my plan. I signed up at the very last minute. Yet, this 100KM journey became exactly what I needed. 😌

Every step was a battle with myself, pushing through mental barriers and discovering strength I didn’t know I still had.

The past 4 months have been challenging. So many things happened that pulled my focus away from life, and adapting to a new work environment brought its own pressures. I chose this 100KM not to chase a finisher or a personal best, but to wake myself up again to become active, regain my focus, and move forward with purpose. My only goal was to go beyond the distance I usually set for myself.

Along the way, I realized something else. There was once someone who was always proud of every small step I took. Somehow, that person became a beautiful memory instead. But I’m grateful those memories existed, because they reminded me that I was once capable of becoming someone worth believing in. Now, it’s time for me to become that person for myself.

This race truly tested both my mind and body. Although I didn’t complete the full course within the cut-off time (COT), I finished with something even more valuable the realization that my potential is far greater than the limits I once placed on myself.

With every step, I left behind unnecessary thoughts and mental noise, replacing them with clarity, resilience, and a wiser mindset.

Congratulations to all the TMB100 2026 runners! πŸ₯³ You are all incredible.

A huge thank you to my teams, Vtrek Vhike and Miles Together, for the encouragement and support throughout the journey.

Lastly, thank you to the event organizers for putting together such a well-organized race. The checkpoint support was excellent, and the food provided was more than sufficient. Truly appreciated!

Merapoh Rainforest Trail 2026 πŸ₯³
πŸ“ 55KM
β›° 773 elevation gain (Coros-883m)
⏱ My Time - 09:52:00 (14hrs cut-off)
My 50KM - PB - 6thx50KM Finisher

My first trail run event of 2026.
After 4 months of taking it easy, I’m finally back on the trails which ready to continue ticking off milestones in my trail running journey.

Merapoh Rainforest Trail 2026 was honestly brutal. I love rivers… but this time, they made me question that πŸ˜‚
Too many river crossings getting my legs wet again and again, plus water inside the caves. It really drained me going in and out of the river for almost 2KM. And that last 1KM… I don’t even know how to describe it πŸ˜…. Gravels adoiiii, i think the kebun owner no need to bring roller to flat the gravel way 🀣

But it’s all part of the game. I took it as a challenge and a great experience. There are even tougher races ahead, so this is just one step closer to taking on bigger challenges.

Overall, the event was superb really well organized. Food supplies were good too, no complaints from me. Big thanks to the Merapoh team hopefully we’ll meet again next year πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸ»

Congratulations to all Merapoh runners!

UiTM Ultra 2026 πŸ₯³
πŸ“ 23KM
β›° 480m elevation gain
⏱ My Time - 3:21:00 (5hrs cut-off)

Kicked off 2026 with a run, crossed the finish line, and earned the medal. πŸ…
Captured the journey through an action cam every step was a challenge. KM by KM, the camera felt heavier, like carrying a 50kg weight on my head. But I pushed through, fought the fatigue, and still managed to capture the moments that mattered.

UiTM Ultra is always an event not to be missed. Every year, it tests limits and builds strength. Let’s run again next year, maybe even go longer. πŸ’ͺ🏼

Huge congratulations to all runners, and especially to my family, Team VTrek Vhike πŸ”₯🫰🏻we did it together.

Big thanks to the UiTM Ultra RD and the entire team @uitmultra for delivering an amazing event. Keep going, this journey doesn’t stop here. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ”₯ by @sivasangkar96

⭐️ 5/10 – 50 KM Finisher

Hooorayyy πŸ₯³
My 5th 50KM finisher and first international trail race, and what an unforgettable experience it was. From bib collection to the finish line, everything felt truly world-class proud and grateful to be part of a UTMB event.

The first 9 KM came with a brutal 1,000 m elevation gain. After just 5 KM, the real suffering began steep, relentless climbs that completely drained our energy before reaching the first checkpoint. After that, the route transitioned into rolling and more runnable sections, though the elevation gain never really let up

Once the first killer climb was done, I focused on refueling properly and pacing myself to hit every cut-off safely. The scenery throughout the course was absolutely stunning. Passing by Doi Pui Peak was one of the highlights moments like these truly remind you why trail running is special

The final 14 KM downhill was a mental war, legs screaming, mind negotiating with every step until I finally crossed the finish line. Worth every struggle.

This was more than a race. A solo runcation, a reset, a reminder that sometimes you need to run far to find yourself again.

Congratulations to all HOKA Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB runners πŸ‘

Trail Des Lenggeng – TDL 2025
πŸ“ Distance: 15KM
β›° Elevation Gain: 437m
⏱ Cut-off Time: 4 hours | My Time: 2 hours 16 minutes

I joined this event as part of my training for the upcoming race, and honestly, I really enjoyed running this short distance 🀣. After finishing, I ate, relaxed, and became part of the cheer crew for other runners πŸ‘». It felt great cheering everyone on and watching them finish strong πŸ”₯. Once in a while, it’s nice to join short distance like this free food, fun games, and good vibes all around!

Thank you for the wonderful event @traildeslenggeng , and a special shoutout to the RD @ahmadtarmiziabd as well. Thanks to Kak @deeilisch sanggup duduk kat panas ambil gambar for every finisher

Ultimate Trails of Penang (UToP) 2025
πŸ“ Distance: 25KM – Pegasus
β›° Elevation Gain: 1,600m
⏱ Cut-off Time: 9 hours | My Time: 6hrs 55min

My first trip to Penang turned out to be more than just about food I discovered its hilly terrain, perfect for trail running. I joined the Pegasus 25KM category and truly enjoyed the challenge, though the event had some shortcomings.

The main disappointment was checkpoint and food management. According to the race guide, each CP should provide biscuits, bread, and bananas. However, CP1 (7.5KM/400m EG) only had 100PLUS and Coke, no food at all. Thankfully, I had brought my own cake to keep going. The climb to the next checkpoint was steep and technical, but the expected CP at the peak didn’t exist. The next available checkpoint only appeared around the 20KM mark, just before the finish line.

While 25KM may not be an ultra-distance, a 1,600m elevation gain makes it physically demanding. Runners rely on proper nutrition and checkpoint support to sustain energy, especially when the race guide lists food availability. Any last-minute changes should have been clearly communicated.

Runners trust the organisers, just as organisers expect runners to respect the event. Better coordination and adherence to the race guide would make a huge difference. Despite the issues, I appreciate the effort behind UToP @ultimatetrailsofpenang it’s a beautiful, challenging race with strong potential to attract local and international runners if properly managed.

Congratulations to all finishers! For those who didn’t finish, your effort still counts every step matters. πŸ’ͺ

⭐️ 4/10 - 50KM Finisher

As you know, this is one of our country’s biggest trail-running events, proudly listed under the UTMB World Series. Previously known as MMTF, MUT has always been on my radar. This year, although Bukit Larut was not part of the route, the course itself was still a true test of endurance hot, humid, and filled with endless rolling segments.

For me, this was my third time showing up, and finally my first official MUT finisher medal πŸ…

MMTF 2023 – DNF 50KM ❌
MUT 2024 – Race called off
MUT 2025 – FINISHER ⭐️

This year’s edition was truly special. The organization by RD @ewegene13 & MUT Team @malaysiaultratrail was outstanding, and the CP food setup was on point. Special shoutout to Changkat Bol Aid Station. Coach Dafi’s @dafi_hamidun warm welcome and that legendary Ayam Golek protein boost gave me the extra strength I needed to push forward.

Even without experiencing Bukit Larut, the segment from Bukit Limau CP to the finishing line already gave me a glimpse of how brutal the Larut climb would have been 🀣. It was a tough but humbling reminder of the challenges this sport brings.

My DNF at Transnaning 2025 taught me the value of resilience. That sting pushed me to stay focused here at MUT2025. On top of that, my calorie deficit journey played a huge role shedding weight, trimming down the belly, and giving me better endurance. It showed me that when we want change, we can’t just imagine it we must act, and the results will speak louder than words.

I’m beyond grateful for the supportive words from Coach Dafi, the amazing family spirit of Team Vtrek Vhike, and the shared joy of every MUT finisher this year. πŸ’ͺ Congratulations to all who crossed that finish line!

The journey doesn’t stop here. 2025 has more trails waiting.

Next target: UToP – Pegasus 🐎

Tunggul Melati Trail (TMT 2025)
πŸ“ Distance: 37.7KM
β›° Elevation Gain: 1439M
⏱ Cut-off Time: 11hrs | My Time: 9hrs 57min

I never knew Dengkil had this many hills! 🏞️ From the start, the course proved to be rolling but brutally steep at every climb. The RD was spot on: 21% road, 79% trail but each trail entry came with punishing elevation that reminded me Pahang Eco Trail nightmare.

First half took us around Bukit Tunggul, before switching to road en route to Bukit Melati, visiting Eagle Hill, Monkey Hill, Centipede Hill, and the Cobra Hill (twice 🀣). The rolling climbs tested every step, though some stretches were thankfully runnable.

Aid Stations :-
Banana cake πŸ‘Ž (smelled off)
Roti canai & watermelon πŸ‘
πŸ† Asam Boi Limau Soda = LIFE.

Heavy food before the last Tunggul grind.

Route Marking :-
Decent for 35KM category, but still need GPX some segments were unmarked. GPX = survival. Overall was fun, challenging, painful but worth every step. The more pain, the more gain πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ”₯

Thanks for supporting and congratulations to my team Vtrek Vhike family. Great challenge fighter @yugen_chain you did your best bro. To all finishers, Congratulations. You conquered the unconquered! ⭐️

Great work TMT2025 @tunggulmelati_trail thanks for arranging such great event✌🏼

The Magnificent Baling 100 (TMB100 2025) - 50KM
πŸ“ Distance: 52.63KM
β›° Elevation Gain: 1248M
⏱ Cut-off Time: 16hrs | My Time: 10hrs 54min
⭐️ 50KM Finisher (3/10)

I must admit, I truly underestimated this event. At first, I thought it might feel similar to Merapoh, but it turned out to be a much more challenging course with rolling terrain. The heavy rain before race day made the trails extremely muddy and difficult, even though they are usually runnable.

My target was to finish in 9hrs 30min, and until 25KM, I managed to cruise comfortably. However, the blister pain became unbearable after that point. I was already recovering from 4 blisters from SMFT, and during this race, the pain worsened. From 25KM onwards, I had to fight through by walking most of the way since there was no sub-COT. Finally, I crossed the finish line at 10hrs 54mins.

βœ… Event highlights:

CP food was well-prepared (though the noodles were a bit spicy for me πŸ˜…). Plenty of hot & cold drink choices. Trail markings were clear, no issues at all. Huge appreciation to the photographers who put in so much effort, even waiting deep inside the trail to capture our moments. A big thank you to the Magnificent crew @themagnificentbaling100 for organizing such a great event.

Special thanks to my Vtrek Vhike family, and congratulations to all TMB100 finishers! ✌🏼πŸ”₯

Sungai Menyala Forest Trail (SMFT 2025)
πŸ“ Distance – 49.5KM
β›° Elevation Gain – 1000m
⏱ Cut-off Time – 11hrs | Finished in 10hrs 6min
πŸ… 4th Place (Men’s Open)
πŸ… 50KM Finisher (2/10)

SMFT is known as one of the fastest and flattest trail events in Malaysia. I signed up as part of my training for the upcoming Baling event. The last SMFT was in 2019, and it was great to see the 4th edition back in 2025. Surprisingly, there were only 35 runners for the 50KM category this year.

The route was a 25KM loop done twice, a mix of runnable sections and raw trail. After 12KM, the famous β€œDragon Back” greeted us πŸ‰. In the first loop, I was blessed with cloudy weather, but the second loop was scorching hot πŸ₯΅. At one point during the first loop, I even thought about DNF-ing. But with 6 hours 30 minutes left to complete the second loop, I decided to push on. Finishing in 4th place was an unexpected surprise, mainly because many runners didn’t finish the first loop.

Some runners unfortunately went off course, which was frustrating for them. Personally, I found the marking to be clear, and the Race Director did remind us in the briefing to focus on route markings and use the GPX. This is why route analysis before race day is so important, trail running is not the same as road running! ✌🏼

The CP stations, food, and crew support were truly superb πŸ™πŸ». Huge thanks to the Race Director, Malatra Events @malatraevent crew, and not forgetting my Vtrek Vhike Team for the endless support, motivation, and encouragement throughout my journey.

Let’s keep running, keep learning, and keep gaining experience ✌🏼
