dear boston,

it’s been a while since I’ve come on here, what’s good y’all 🫶🏽

these past few months tested my spirit in ways I honestly didn’t expect. I had to shut down for a bit and for the first time ever, I actually removed myself entirely from community and went silent - stopped posting, stopped pulling up to events, all of it.

truth is, I got real close to falling out of love with this city. I never thought I’d understand why so many people eventually throw in the towel or just leave altogether - especially the ones who were once so dedicated to pouring into community.

but it’s really hard to continue radiating light when you receive darkness in return. it’s hard to keep fighting for change and gripping onto hope when people would rather reject progress and project onto your intentions.

and for a minute, I let that affect me.

I started doing all this because it was always a deeper purpose & calling for me. it’s what pulled me to stay here after college and the reason I rep the city more than my own name. but I had to realize that darkness will always reside anywhere there is light, no matter where you go.

when you choose to serve people and inspire change, you inevitably expose wounds that haven’t healed yet. boston’s ghost is a multi-dimensional trauma with deep roots - generational, emotional, racial, economic, political, systemic. and as long as trauma remains unhealed, there will always be a pain-body that yearns for the bitter past and resists the truth, even when the truth is trying to help.

I still believe people are naturally meant to move toward light. I still believe this city needs so much love - not just for the ones who’ve been hurt, but also for the ones who’ve been stitching together the very fabric of our communities and culture for years. I see you.

p.s. next friday, I’ll be sharing a piece with #HellaBlack & @boscenterforarts that reflects a lot of this inner transformation if you’re curious (free tix in bio) - but more to come soon 🌱

all love,
stax

for a long time, art was introduced to me from the lens of skill and competition.
something that earned flowers only when executed at a high level.

I would’ve never guessed that life after college would bring me into a line of work that centers art not only as a career path,

but as a pathway back to ourselves.

where art becomes a form of healing,
expression becomes medicine,
and creativity helps us make sense of being human.

incredibly blessed to join @bamsfest this year as part of MOMENTUM 2026 for such a necessary conversation on the intersection of creativity, culture, and personal wellbeing — bringing together the extraordinary journey of @djjazzyjeff and the sharp perspectives of @askdrcharmain in the same space.

thank you @catherinetmorris @lb_sheekee1 & the whole team for carrying this vision and trusting me to be part of it 🙏🏽

this past year threw me into the deep end with no warning.

from watching my family split and turn into strangers, to losing myself and cracking under pressure just as God began to reveal my gifts.

it’s easy to be at peace when the waters are still. but no one tells you the real challenge is figuring out how to maintain peace in the thick of chaos. how to keep radiating when it’s pitch black. how to still love even when you don’t get it back.

God, thank you for being the first to show me how.

for reviving my soul and reminding me what you put me here for.
for perspective, wisdom, and understanding.
for surrounding me with earthly angels, without whom I wouldn’t have been able to push through this past year.

to @boscenterforarts @amandasheaallday @michailamarie @lannalalo @illuminus & the #HellaBlack team — I knew this show was divine the moment I saw Genesis. thank you for nurturing creative seeds all these years and welcoming me into your garden.

to all the artists in this show — it was a blessing to witness your breakthroughs and share this experience with you. may our paths continue to cross, and may your light continue to glow wherever your gifts take you next.

to my friends, family & new souls met — seeing you all left me speechless. your love & support keep me lifted and strengthens my faith more than you know.

and if you’ve ever resonated with a word I’ve ever said, thank you for being here.
thank you for still listening.

I find it ironic how growth is supposed to feel uncomfortable - sometimes even painful.

but what lies on the other side is a kind of peace I can’t fully describe.

this piece is by far the most vulnerable collection of words I’ve written and allowed myself to share. so many personal experiences & revelations that I’ve carried quietly for a lil while…and y’all know I don’t be on stage all like that lol.

beyond grateful to @boscenterforarts, the curators @amandasheaallday @illana.popz @michailamarie + the whole #HellaBlack team for giving me the space to heal in real time.

and a big ty to @lentzmartn for bringing this into a whole other dimension fr.

I’ll be honest…when I graduated and decided to stay in Boston, I didn’t know the first thing about the city’s underlying arts & culture scene or history.

but something in my spirit told me that I couldn’t just leave my roots.

I don’t have nearly enough words to thank @caughtindot & @boston.cob for sharing this story and highlighting the incredible progress being made.

blessed to be a vessel and a reflection of the beauty and radiance that has been decorating this city for generations 🌱

We are back with another one, and what a way to end season 5 with the one and only @sixfootstax for an honest and wide ranging conversation about growth, identity, and the process of becoming your highest self.

Growing up in Dorchester as the oldest of four, Stax talks about the pressure of always being the example while still figuring life out herself. From dance and modeling to choir and violin, her upbringing built discipline early and sparked a love for learning.

In this episode, she opens up about the mindset shifts that come with personal growth and how books like The Four Agreements helped change the way she views accountability, relationships, and self-awareness.

We also talk about the reality of evolving past older versions of yourself and how growth can sometimes create distance from people who knew you before.

From the story behind the name “Stax” to deeper conversations about identity, purpose, and self-discovery, this episode blends humor, honesty, and real reflection.
