42.2km later - I'm a Marathoner 🏅😁

It was a hard and long journey. From dark mornings in the depths of winter to six-day training weeks, to a race day cancelation and back to back injuries. I knew this was not gonna be my best race coming into it with an injury and interrupted training for the past 8 weeks.
But difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations. I read somewhere a few weeks ago that "This is not just a medal. This is a testament of resilience, hard work, and goodwill."

Good Heaven, how it all comes back to me this long time afterwards!

For a long time I joked about doing a marathon but I never actually internalized it's fruition and that I was already laying the foundation blocks.

I will forever remember the solemn feeling with which at length I turned my eyes down at my feet, on the finish line, yielded to the sensation of gratitude and rest which the sight of the many runners before me (and many yet to come behind me) - and how much more the cheers of all of their loved ones - inspired.

@risunarisimati thank you for your support of me. From early mornings - getting me to every race and waiting hours on end at the finish, to cold rainy evenings in quaint cabins in small unfamiliar coastal towns. From being my aid station on long training runs, and my most useful aid with your healing massages, to cheering me on at the top of your lungs when I needed it most. The remembrance of my first ever marathon is incomplete without you. You are inextricably linked to this segment of my life where I became the best version of myself I possibly could have ever been. Words spoken and written alike insufficiently account for my gratefulness. I love you ♥️.

@tshepi.motloung you are as true a friend as ever. Thank you for being there for me, for your love, care, and unequivocal support in all arenas of my life. Your presence made me smile with my heart and pushed me through that course more than you know.

Thank you God for a strong mind and able body - which along with you, carried me in more ways than I have understood to be possible before. I'm so happy.

I'll be back, and well improved 🙏.
