If you tuned into a livestream of my office right now, you'd see me doing my happy dance for a *good* tax change! 🥳

The Form 1099-NEC threshold for payments made in 2026 has INCREASED from $600 to $2,000.

Basically, if your business paid a nonemployee (like a contractor, freelancer, or other non-exempt service provider) less than $2,000 this year, you may not be required to issue them a 1099.

This might mean fewer tax filings you have to do next January, but what does it mean for you right now? ↓

Keep collecting W-9s from your contractors and tracking how much you pay to each of them!

Duplicate transactions aren't normally something I'd panic about in your bookkeeping because they're SO easy to catch + correct...

But if ~someone~ isn't regularly reconciling your accounts, those pesky duplicates can haunt your books for waaay longer than anyone would want. 👀 by @sja.bookkeeping

Every week, one thing I do is jump on discovery calls with beauty pros to learn about their businesses and share how I can help them with their bookkeeping.

Normally, these are a highlight of my week!! ✨

I love meeting new people and seeing the relief on their faces when they realize I'm not going to judge them for not having the world's cleanest books...

But on some not-so-fun days, I end up waiting around on Zoom for 16 minutes after our scheduled call, follow-up, and hear crickets.

I'm no stranger to getting ghosted! ✨

So I don't get mad, but I just want you to know, my discovery calls are no-strings-attached! We can chat, and you don't *actually* have to work with me if you don't want to.
