THIS IS IT!! We saved the best for last. This will be the last One Mic Stand with SJ of 2026 and we are ending this year with a killer show. Our features Natalie Ilda and Mario Rubio from HOT PEOPLE READ POETRY will grace the stage and bring the 🔥. Plus Special Guest Delilah Saul, a documentarian and founder of @outlawmediacpmpany will also be in attendance as we will have our collaboration with Hot People Read Poetry on Nov 20th when they will have their event in Jersey City!! You don’t want to miss a thing!!

Natalie Gilda believes SWers are inherent storytellers, which is what makes them such amazing writers. She is the creator and host of Hot People Read Poetry, a SWer founded and focused open mic experience and poetry show in NYC. She also cohosts an interview series, Pink Dancing Poets.

Maria Rubio (she/they) is a born and raised New Yorker with roots in the Philippines. Her writing explores everything that she comes in contact with as a Brown queer woman who is building community within the belly of capitalism.

Delilah Saul is a SWer, documentarian, and founder of @outlawmediacompany. Her recent film, “Beloved”, explores the impact of stigma on the love lives of SWers. She’s currently directing and producing a documentary about media bias against SWers. She hosts SW + LOVE, a podcast about navigating personal relationships as a SWer. taken in Downtown Jersey City by @sjbythegram

TONIGHT! JC PLUMS POETRY VIRTUAL WEEKLY WORKSHOP

Calling all poets!

This workshop begins with critiques of two poems, each by an author who signed up ahead of time. The workshop ends, if time permits, with a 10-15 minute writing prompt (an idea to incorporate into a poem written on the spot).

Please note that if you have never attended Jersey Plums before, you must attend at least once before you may schedule a poem for critique. To get on the schedule, please speak to a moderator at the workshop.

While critiquing poems, we will mind our P’s and Q’s by first discussing what works in the poem, and then asking questions for clarity, understanding, and figuring out how the poem can be stronger or improved. This helps to keep the feedback positive and constructive. We look forward to seeing you there!

Jasmine Rosario, known artistically as JRose is an international spoken word artist, teaching artist, and community builder from Queens, New York. She began performing poetry at 16 and has since transformed her passion into a career dedicated to amplifying voices and creating spaces where stories can be told with honesty and power.

JRose is the founder of The Rose Garden Events, a thriving performance platform that has become a safe haven for poets, storytellers, and creatives. As a visionary cultural organizer and Executive Producer of The JRose Experience Talk Show, she continues to build opportunities that uplift artists and foster meaningful connection through storytelling and performance.
