Usually my goals consist of me trying not to eat Taco Bell more than 3x a week, but earlier this week I achieved a long time goal of mine. I successfully completed all the tests, training, and competency checks to upgrade to Aircraft Dispatcher at SWA. And as tradition would have it, I printed out my first flight plan with my name on it from my first solo shift. I also got Taco Bell on the way home to celebrate 🎉🌯 by @sjgourlay

What I thought would be "just a job while I look for another job" but then turned into a 10 year career. About another 10 more and I'll be eligible for retirement with flight benefits 😏🛫 #work #anniversary #10years by @sjgourlay

Day 7/7: I'm grateful for Southwest Airlines. While other airlines have already laid off employees, SWA has made it a priority to preserve jobs. And I'm also grateful for those I work with. Working in a 24/7/365 operation we often find ourselves spending holidays, like today, working with eachother. Many have become like family, even opening your home to me when I needed a place to stay. And of course I'm thankful for all the flights - the view never gets old! #givethanks by @sjgourlay

Day 6/7: I'm grateful for the 2 years I spent in Peru. It was definitely one of those life changing experiences that taught me love and appreciate Latin American culture. I always thought I understood what it meant to have patience, but it wasn't until I met that little dude behind me who didn't know any English besides the lyrics to that song by Papa Roach "cut my life into pieces this is my last resort" He would sing it constantly! Day 5/7: I'm grateful for music. And yes, this is my Kenny G holiday album! I'll listen to anything from hymns to hip-hop, salsa to symphony, metal to merengue, and everything in between, including country. I've become a citybilly 🤠 Music can instantly lift my spirits, change my mood, and get me motivated. #givethanks by @sjgourlay

Day 4/7: Of course, I gotta be grateful for skateboarding! First, I'm thankful I can still do these tricks I learned when I was 14. Second, it has taught me how to be persistent and have discipline. And finally, it has brought me some good friends! #givethanks by @sjgourlay

Day 2/7: Most importantly, I'm grateful for my family, especially my mom and dad. Although they've been divorced for over 20 years, they've always set aside their differences to provide the best life for my sister and I. True pioneers of co-parenting before Hollywood stars made it popular 😜 #givethanks by @sjgourlay

Day 1/7: I'm grateful for those who came before me. This is a photo of family at my grandparent's, Arthur Jordan and Rose Fusco, engagement party. My great grandfather, Lifro Fusco who is 2nd on the left, immigrated to the US in 1900 from Italy. My grand father Arthur served in WWII and received a purple heart. Because of their sacrifices I enjoy the blessings of today. #givethanks by @sjgourlay

I recently heard this story for the first time about people being rescued from Manhattan by boat on 9/11. There were so many unsung heroes that day and this is an amazing example of ordinary people performing an extraordinary act of selflessness. You can find the full story on YouTube.
