LAKE PLACID. Some lines get drawn in pencil. Some get skied down a slide path. Team Wildline was there for season one of TREW To You, and four seasons later they're bringing their latest film "Scribble" back to the Adirondacks. Get hyped on the trailer then grab your crew and come hang with us. 📍 North Country School 🗓 Saturday 11/7 🕖 Doors 6:30 / Show~7:00pm 🎟 Tickets at the link in bio "Scribble" follows East Coast skier and artist Noah Ball (@noah__ball) as he searches for inspiration for his art and his skiing in the Adirondacks, home to 6 million acres of protected wilderness. It's a story about what happens when you stop forcing creativity into a neat box, because a scribble was never meant to stay inside the lines. Shot in and around Whiteface Mountain and the High Peaks Wilderness, Scribble is a reminder that creativity can be found anywhere: in the worn pages of a small notebook or high up on a slide path. Meet TREW To You Team: 'Wildline'! Based out of Lake Placid, New York, Wildline was part of TREW To You's very first season and is back for season 4. Their film, "Scribble," follows east coast skier and artist Noah Ball (@noah__ball) as he seeks inspiration for his art and his skiing in the Adirondack Mountains, home to 6 million acres of protected wilderness and nearly unlimited places to explore. This is a story about what happens when we stop forcing creativity into a neat box, and let skiing and art flow freely...because a scribble was never meant to stay inside the lines. Noah's story reminds us of that. Creativity can be found anywhere: in the worn pages of a small notebook or high up on a slide path in the Adirondacks. Behind the camera, Wildline is a crew of optimistic adventurers who believe that telling stories is a quintessential human experience. They play, and often work, in the Adirondack mountains where you have to work hard for the things you want, whether it's a long approach for an ephemeral ski line or making a film to share an untold story. Produced and Written by Josey Brady (@sjoseyb), shot and edited by Connor Brady (@con_brad) of Wildline Media Productions (@wearewildline), and starring rider and artist Noah Ball (@noah__ball), this TREW To You original film was shot in and around Whiteface Mountain and the High Peaks Wilderness in New York. I keep finding myself thinking: these are the days I will look back on and say “those were the days.” I’ve thought that for ten years and it hasn’t happened yet. It keeps getting better. Our fifth anniversary is being lived as a season, rather than a moment in time. Digging up dandelions a few at a time because, really, what’s the rush? The first sip of coffee flinging us into the day as we stare blearily across the picnic table at each other. Sitting a little longer, speaking a little slower, a little less intent on having the answer. “If you like it, I love it,” said with a shake of the head and a smile. More settled, less striving. Not boredom, but ease. We’re not the same people we were when we got married, yet I still wholly recognize us both. From the beginning, we promised to bear witness to each other’s becoming. Most days, I’m confident that’s exactly what we’re doing. It remains absolutely true: there is no where else I’d rather be than in the midst of this precise life with you! by @sjoseyb
Out Of Office! Two thirds of a bucket list bikepacking trip from Buffalo to Schenectady on the Empire State Trail. We got rained out after 260 miles and took the train back from Utica - we’ve got our hearts set on finishing it up later on this summer. Many hours biking into a headwind were fueled by orange soda, pizza, and copious pastries. New York State is cool! Get out there and see some of it! by @sjoseyb
I’m 31 and I’m more convinced than ever that I don’t know anything. I don’t think anybody really does. We’re all just trying our best to do this thing we have never done before. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of the things that make our hearts beat a little faster, that make our senses tingle, that make us feel like maybe, just maybe, it does all mean something. Little lass Josey thought that knowledge would be acquired at the same rate as years. I used to think that one day I would cross the threshold into “older and wiser,” but now I’m not sure that’s where I want to be headed. In my experience the most profound wisdom comes from those who do not realize they are wise. Be wary of those that claim to know everything - it’s always artificial. To exist in the midst of the great swirling mass of things we do not know is a profoundly human experience. A rite of passage in our time on this planet and a profound joy. I hope to never know the endless forms of Connor’s laughter or see all the sunsets from all the vantage points. I am glad there will always be words in other languages that I cannot even begin to comprehend. I’ll never know when exactly the tulips will decide to push out of the dirt or where I’ll be 31 years from now. I never could have predicted the profound joy of being friends with your friend’s kids. What a gift to know that a lifetime of similar surprises lies ahead of me. So here’s a toast to the venerable List of Things I Do Not Know. May you exist ad infinitum and may the latin language stay on you forever. Thank you for providing me with endless curiosities to pursue and questions to ponder. You give me a reason to seek counsel from people whose experiences are very different than mine. You promise that boredom need never last long. May this list of unknowledge stay long inside my head, providing endless opportunities for learning and growth. I’m 31 today - may I continue to know less with each passing year. by @sjoseyb
A short ode to this unoptimized and glorious life by @sjoseyb
spend a week with a crazy bread lady! by @sjoseyb
I know spring is coming because my freezer is nearly empty. I spent a little bit of extra time last summer and fall processing and freezing excess vegetables from @foxcreekfarmcsa and from my own garden so I could taste the high summer sun that lives inside of in-season vegetables all winter long. I’ll admit, it does take planning. I’ve found myself on many an occasion staring at a frozen jar of tomato sauce trying to defrost it in time for dinner through the sheer power of my will (it’s strong, but not strong enough). I also can’t express the pure delight it brings me to eat something I can fully trace: from a farm in schoharie to the depths of my own freezer. I say this reminder loudest for myself: food comes from farms. Sometimes the colorful vegetable walls at the grocery store — whatever I want, whenever I want it! — threaten to make me, make all of us, forget it. I still buy plenty of produce from the grocery store. But food needs farms like Fox Creek, and farmers like Raymond and Sara and Richard and Barryton and Scotchy, to grow it. People who even now are thinking about when to plant the broccoli so it can show up in my kitchen in July. It’s all reciprocity. The gift of broccoli in July is from the care of farmers in March (to me broccoli is a gift, ok?). Fresh tomato sauce in march is a gift from Summer Josey to Winter Josey™. We’re still a few months away from the start of CSA season, but I’m already thinking about stocking the freezer for next winter. I say it all the time to anyone who will listen (if you made it this far, sorry but that’s you!): buying vegetables through a CSA has changed my life. It’s made me a more creative cook, a more joyful eater, a healthier person, and it’s given me greater awareness of where my food comes from and who gets it to my plate. I cannot recommend it highly enough. And if you live near me, I cannot recommend @foxcreekfarmcsa more fervently!! I honestly believe it will save you money. Now is a great time to sign up and give a gift to your summer self! Eat your veggies, kids! Not because they’re good for you (they are), but because they’ll make your life a whole lot more joyful. #foxcreekfarmcsa by @sjoseyb
