The build up to today’s play at The Oval for day two and Gareth Copley-Jones, leading sport/cricket photographer is talking about his new book Pictures Of England which showcases his photographs of the England cricket team over the last 20 years with @stuartbroad & Athers. Smoke in sunny Salt Lake City Found one of the few places to enjoy a smoke in Salt Lake City, Utah,USA. State law forbids smoking just about everywhere, especially indoors at a cigar store/lounge. RIP Mike Peters 1959 -2025 Finally got to complete this portrait of The Alarm frontman Mike Peters, another of my musical heroes. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him several times over the years at concerts. Even had the pleasure to shoot a couple of gigs in Nottingham years ago. For some reason though I never made the effort to attend any of the annual Gatherings in Wales. Along with Bowie, Mike Peters & The Alarm are a constant in the soundtrack of my life. Not a great smoke I’m trying to smoke my second Plasencia Resrva Original but it looks like someone is smoking it from the inside. There is a hole almost right down the length of this cigar which is making it almost impossible to smoke. Has anyone else had this issue with this brand or any other cigar? Happy Birthday Mr Ronnie Barker The late great comedy genius that is Ronnie Barker would be celebrating his 95th birthday today. Known the world over for his comedy partnership on tv with Ronnie Corbett on the ‘Two Ronnie’s show’.As Norman Stanley ‘Fletch’ Fletcher in the prison comedy ‘Porridge’ and the sequel ‘Going Straight.’ Let’s not f f f f f forget his loveable shopkeeper character ‘Arkwright’ in ‘Open All Hours.’ His career spanned from the sixties right up until a few years before his death in 2005. We all have I’m sure, a favourite scene, sketch or quote from the great man but, this portrait celebrates probably the most recognisable one in my opinion. Kenneth Williams In my opinion he was one of the funniest comedy actors of his time. Starring in 26 of the 31 Carry On films, tv shows with Tony Hancock and on Radio 4 show ‘just a minute’ He has got to be one of the most recogniseable celebrities not only for his looks but for his voice also. Who can forget ‘Willo The Wisp’ appealing to the younger generation of the early 1980’s. There are so many fantastic I could have used for this portrait but, this one is by far my favourite of his.
