Peel season is upon us! Now that the heat is down and we aren’t in the sun we can start to work on pigmentation accumulated from the summer or post acne.

Signature 45 + add on peel: I recommend this for someone who’s new to peels. This will address active acne, brighten and smooth. Little to no downtime - minor flaking and dryness

Deep Correction peel: I recommend this for someone whos looking to address deep pigment or scarring. For example: Melasma, sun damage and post acne marks. 2-4 days of peeling and dryness. by @sjskinstudio

Should you trust the Yuka app for acne skincare?

Yuka can be a helpful starting point, but it should not be the final decision-maker for your acne routine.

If you scan a skincare product and see terms like “endocrine disruptor,” it can feel scary. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that may interfere with hormone activity, which is why apps may flag certain ingredients.

Common ingredients that may get flagged include:
Parabens
Homosalate
Octocrylene
Oxybenzone / Benzophenone-3
Octinoxate / Ethylhexyl
Methoxycinnamate
BHT / Butylated Hydroxytoluene
Benzyl Salicylate

But a flagged ingredient does not automatically mean a product is harmful, acne-causing, or wrong for your skin.

Skincare depends on the full formula, concentration, product type, your skin barrier, your acne history, and how your skin actually responds.

Some preservatives help keep products from growing bacteria or mold. Some sunscreen filters help protect post-acne marks from getting darker. And some ingredients may sound scary online but may be fine for your skin in the right formula.

Use Yuka as information, not the final answer.

Your summer routine might need a fall adjustment.

If your skin is feeling tighter, looking duller or getting irritated more easily, a few small switches can help.

Here’s where I’d start:

→ Ease up on exfoliation. If you’re exfoliating several nights a week, try cutting back by a night or two and make room for a brightening mask. My pick: Face Reality Brighten-C Mask.

→ Go gentler with your morning cleanse. If your cleanser leaves you feeling tight, try a gentle, non-foaming option like Authentic Ego Mellow Jelly Cleanser.

→ Give your moisturizer a little more weight. If a light formula like Face Reality Barrier Care Gel Cream isn’t enough anymore, Dr. esthé Dual Barrier Lotion is an option for extra moisture.

→ Keep the SPF. Switch the texture.
For skin craving a richer formula, like swapping a lightweight option like Sofie Pavitt Screen Time for TIZO
Ultra Zinc.

1 YEAR OF SJ SKIN STUDIO

I had so so much fun working with @sjskinstudio planning & designing the celebration of her 1 year studio anniversary ❣️❣️❣️

This event was all about community and incorporated special details to bring that to life - like milestone photos scattered around the room, cards for clients to share their experience with SJ, & sweet bags for guests to take home on their way out

Not to mention flowers sourced by SJ’s friend & client @petalplaybrooklyn , wine selections from friend & client Danielle at @selectionsdelavina , the reveal of her new studio fragrance made by friend & client @dirtydudeapothecary , & so many other meaningful details that I will be sharing later!!!

It’s offical: SJ SKIN has a scent 🤍

Meet Weighted Blanket, our first room spray.

This little project came from such a special place, and it feels so sweet to finally share it with you. We wanted to create something that carries the feeling of the studio: calm, cozy, cared for, and very SJ Skin.

Will be launching weighted blanket at our one year anniversary party on September 30.

I can’t believe we’ve officially been open for one year.
This year has been full in the best way. New faces, familiar faces, so many skin journeys, Jessie joining the team, over 100 kind reviews, and even a little SJ SKIN launch in the works 🚀✨
