Closeness does not require merging.

Two membranes move toward each other, warming as the distance closes. Sound sends pulses of light along the threads between them. They come close enough to touch, then drift apart. The connection remains.

A series about what happens between us: how closeness, distance, memory and difference shape our relationships.

A heart woven from fine threads beats in the dark. A luminous crack opens through its surface. Amber strands reach across the gap, take up the tension, and slowly draw its edges together. As the opening closes, the threads that carried it become part of the heart’s weave.

We carry traces of the care we have received: the patience, attention and small acts that helped us hold together. Some of that support becomes part of how we reach toward someone else.

A series about what happens between us: how closeness, distance, memory and difference shape our relationships.

Two living fields share an edge. As pressure builds, their boundary closes. Only when that pressure recedes do small passages begin to open. A few particles cross; each field keeps its own shape and rhythm.

After touch, absence, memory and disagreement, this work turns to the freedom to choose how close to be. To open at our own pace, keep something private, or leave a little distance. Connection grows when that choice is respected.

A series about what happens between us: how closeness, distance, memory and difference shape our relationships.

Here, a living membrane opens around a void. The impulse passes, but the surrounding threads keep holding its shape. Light moves through a structure still responding to what is no longer there.

The space someone leaves can continue to shape those who remain. An absence changes how we reach, where we stop, and what we leave room for.
