What happens when roller skaters enter a motion capture studio? 🛼✨ Roller skating found a home at @queenelizabetholympicpark. Through Roll Deep, we’re bringing together community and world-class technology to explore what happens when skate culture moves beyond public spaces and into digital spaces.📡 Over the past few months, skaters stepped into a motion capture studio, wore suits that tracked their movement, and began experimenting with what it means to take skating to new levels. From concept to culture. ✨ From skate moves to digital movement. 📀 From community to creativity. 🎨 What if your favourite skate style could be digitised, preserved and reimagined? This is Roll Deep. A pilot developed through the Creative Experience Futures Lab programme, supported by @ucl and LLDC. 🛼 Featured skaters: @thesunskater @lilliealmond_ @roll.tru @esmefenwick @jameskaguima Creative team: 🎥 Film by mellow.moves 🖥️ @tyler.ebanja – Founder, CommonGround Architecture & Design 🎭 Alexander Whitley – Artistic Director @whitleydanceco 🎓 Ben White – Academic Lead @ucl ⚙️ Cephas Bhaskar – Technical Lead, UCL BodyLab / Here East 🛼 @jameskaguima – Founder @skate.cabal This is one of many projects we’re exploring at the intersection of community, culture and creativity. Here’s a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of Roll Deep. This is just the beginning… #RollDeep #LondonSkateCommunity #CreativeTechnology by @skate.cabal
We brought the roller disco experience to the Young Barbican Takeover 🛼✨ We transformed the @barbicancentre into a vibrant pop-up filled with skating, music and culture, delivering Learn to Skate sessions that helped complete beginners find their confidence on wheels, followed by an open skate jam soundtracked by the @roundhouseldn @roundhouse.works DJ Collective From coaching and skate hire to marshalling and the overall experience, we created a welcoming space where people could learn, connect and enjoy the vibes. A huge thank you to the @barbicancentre team for their support in bringing it all together. More than just skating, it’s community in motion. #SkateCabal #YoungBarbican #RollerDisco #RollerSkating #rollerskate by @skate.cabal
Happy birthday @skate.cabal 🎈 ⭐️ @jameskaguima 🎤 ✍🏽 @lilliealmond_ Five years ago, James started thinking up ideas which weren’t initially for the Skate Cabal that we all know today. And that’s one of the many reasons that this convo is important: Sometimes we have an idea or concept - and much like our lives in skating, that idea can grow and develop into something pretty different, and even better. This connects with me a lot, because my own relationship with skating has enormously evolved. All of this shows that yes, we can start with something that seems pretty good… But with dedication, focus, growth and the embracing of change - what it can turn into, is incredible. Congrats to James and everyone at Skate Cabal for this massive milestone. 🛼 ✍🏽 🎤 🔥 ✨ #londonskatelife #rollerskatinglife #rollerskaters #skatinglife #skate by @skate.cabal

The space brings us together. The people and good vibes make us stay. 🛼 This year, we teamed up with @queenelizabetholympicpark for a community skate marshal pilot, skaters supporting skaters with first aid, welfare support and a familiar face to turn to. Big love to our community skate marshals and everyone we met along the way. The conversations, friendships and moments between the skating are what make this community special. Thank you to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for supporting the pilot. Let’s keep looking out for each other and the spaces we enjoy together 🙌 #SkateCabal #QueenElizabethOlympicPark #SkateCommunity #RollerSkating by @skate.cabal
A little throwback to our ‘We Outside’ social skate meet-up at Bethnal Green Gardens, it was a vibe! Big love to everyone who came through and brought the energy 🛼 Spaces like this give us somewhere to skate, connect and build community. Let’s help keep them open and accessible. The consultation on padel courts at Bethnal Green Gardens closes on 31 October at 11:59pm. Have your say about the future of this shared space. 👉 Head to the link in @saveourspaceskate’s bio to respond, and share this with your skate pals 🙌 🎥 Captured by @sktrvrse ✂️ Edited by @jameskaguima #SkateCabal #SaveOurSpace #BethnalGreen #LondonSkating #RollerSkating by @skate.cabal

Career guidance doesn’t have to be boring… This summer we helped young people recognise their strengths and potential and explore real career opportunities - brought to life through visual illustrations by @edwards_caricatures 🎨 This session was part of our Career Step-In & Guidance Workshops, delivered as part of the Creative Careers Lab with @skate.cabal , within the East Bank Summer School. A new look for Skate Cabal. Same purpose, new chapter. 🛼💨 5 years into the journey, Skate Cabal is evolving. Over the past few months, we’ve been working with Studio Bess to develop the next chapter of our brand, looking at how we show up, tell our story and better reflect what Skate Cabal has grown into. Today, we’re sharing our new logo. Skate Cabal has always been about more than just skating. It’s about community, culture, movement, belonging and creating spaces where people can connect, learn and express themselves. As the work has grown, we wanted the brand to grow with it. Skate Cabal is stepping into a new era. Big love to @bystudiobess for helping us shape and bring this next chapter to life. 💜💚 #SkateCabal #MoreThanJustSkating #BrandReveal #RollerSkating #Community by @skate.cabal
