Inktober Day 14: Lady 🌼

Today’s lady is a cosplayer with a giant dandelion I met @cookie.in.cosplay during Polaris last weekend in Hamburg.

One staff, a canopy of a thousand tiny lines, and a breath of wind in every scribble. A touch of grey brush pen helps the seeds float.

Long day, but a little doodle at the end is the best way to unwind. 🖋️

Ein Mann, ein Stuhl, eine Zeitung und eine Rauchfahne, die mehr Substanz hat als die Nachrichten. Gezeichnet in einem Zug, ohne viel Federlesen.

Inktober Day 12 Toss

A redraw of Honoré Daumier’s „À tout coup l’on perd!“ („You lose every time!“), published in Le Charivari in September 1868.

A fairground game: Europe, crowned with a city wall, tosses bags of money into the open mouth of Mars, the god of war. Nothing comes back. Just the next round.

Daumier drew it while Europe was rearming after the 1866 war between Prussia and Austria. Two years later, France and Prussia were at war.

Some questions never get old.

I kept his composition and drew it with a Lamy fountain pen only. No brush, no fineliner. Every shadow is hatching, and the open mouth is the one place I let the ink sit.

Inktober 2026 Rescue
Dorothy and the Scarecrow found the Tin Woodman rusted solid in the forest, mid-swing, for a full year. His first words after the oiling were basically „thanks, my jaw was getting really bored.“
I drew him the way W. W. Denslow did in the original 1900 book: lanky, funnel hat, joints like a badly assembled lamp.

I only learned about Denslow today, and apparently he’s the reason we all picture Oz the way we do. Better late than never.

Fountain pen sketch with black ink. The neck is too long.
I’m calling it a design choice.
Be honest: would you have stopped to oil him, or kept walking?

Erstes Oktoberwochenende, Sonne, Skizzenbuch ☀️✏️

Hamburg mit Urban Sketchern: Im Karoviertel hat jede Ecke ein Motiv geliefert, beim Comicfestival gab’s Inspiration zwischen Panels und Papier, und auf dem Elbrausch Designmarkt wollten wir am liebsten alles einpacken. Und ja, für eine Runde Sketchcorner bei Pflaumenkuchen blieb auch noch Zeit. Hinsetzen, Stift raus, Stadt aufs Papier.

The eternal sketcher struggle: even A3 isn’t big enough 🤣

So I split this Citroën across multiple pages, then digitally stitched it back together. Problem solved - creative problem solving at its finest.

Kunstgenuss im Marathonmodus = Hirn aus.
Deshalb: Pause. Stift. Fertig.

Gestern auf der HAAM: Zu viel Input, zu viele Eindrücke.
Ab in die Kids Corner - da entdecken mich die UrbanSketcher in meinem Collagen - Flow. 😄

Nach der Pause, erste Etage - @turk_illustrations getroffen,
Skizzenbuch raus, zwei Minuten Moment einfangen. Nicht gucken. Machen. Das ist meine kleine 2. Pause.

„Im Museum gucke ich am liebsten immer aus dem Fenster. Aber hier bin ich ja auf der HAAM.“ 🎨

Kein Zeit für Fenster. Hier is‘ überall was los. Und die echten Momente? Mit Leuten, die genauso ticken.
