Thank you for a wonderful Frances Day 2026! 🎉 We love to see the museum overflowing with energy and excitement.

Special thanks to @greatmutations, @saratogaclayarts, and our staff + interns for making the day so fantastic!

Frances Day is the Tang’s annual summer open house. Every year we welcome the community in to celebrate and honor the museum’s namesake, Frances Young Tang, @skidmorecollege Class of 1961.

Did you see The Odyssey over the weekend? Are you “classics curious”? ✨

In part two of our conversation with Professor and Chair of Classics Dan Curley, he explains how students often arrive in his classroom already familiar with ancient stories through pop culture.

By meeting students where they are, he helps turn that familiarity into a deeper understanding of the classical world.

Bridging human and veterinary medicine through comparative immunology 🐾

Meet Grace McKinnon ‘27, a biology major with an English minor at Skidmore. This summer, Grace is interning at Candlewood Animal Hospital while conducting research investigating the immunological links between human Crohn’s disease and canine chronic inflammatory enteropathy (CIE). Her work explores how the biologic therapies that have transformed treatment for Crohn’s disease could be reimagined and redesigned for canine patients.

On her internship, she says:

"At Candlewood Animal Hospital, I'm is gaining hands-on clinical experience by assisting veterinarians, observing appointments, and following cases involving gastrointestinal disease. At the same time, I'm studying species-specific immune responses and cytokine signaling to better understand why biologic therapies succeed in humans but have yet to be developed for dogs."

By combining clinical experience with translational research, Grace hopes to contribute to the future of precision medicine in veterinary care and improve treatment options for dogs living with CIE.

This internship was supported by Skidmore’s Summer Experience Fund and is part of the Zankel Experience Network. A person stands on a lush green lawn surrounded by tall evergreen trees, holding a small, curly-haired dog while wearing a light blue outfit. by @skidmorecollege

Excited to see Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey this weekend? You’re not alone. 🎬

We sat down with Professor and Chair of Classics Dan Curley to hear what he’s most excited to see as Homer’s epic reaches the big screen and how it connects to what he discusses in classics courses at Skidmore.

This past year we celebrated 25 years of the Tang Museum with exhibitions, events, classes, and community. Whether you’ve been visiting since we opened or discovered us for the first time this season, thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to the next 25 years of art and ideas! Blurred greenery hangs on the top and left foreground, framing several people standing and talking in an indoor space with a pale blue wall displaying many colorful books on floating shelves and red text reading “25 YEARS OF TANG PUBLISHING.” To the right, a large red exclamation point graphic has the number “25” inside its circular dot. by @skidmorecollege

Skidmore creativity is showing up on the streets of New York City 🎨

Sophia Livecchi ’21, @sophlive, recently completed four asphalt murals along Myrtle Avenue in Queens.

Spanning 1,700 square feet, the murals were painted within @nyc_dot pedestrian bump-outs, which help shorten crossing distances, slow turning vehicles, improve visibility, and keep pedestrian spaces clear.

The project holds special meaning for Sophia. Queens was the first place her grandmother called home after immigrating to the United States at age 14, and it remained important to generations of her family.
