When a booking is cancelled late or missed, another client misses out, a therapist’s time is lost, and our family-run clinic takes the hit. We truly understand life happens — work calls, alarm malfunctions, and yes… sometimes even the “school called and the kids are in sick bay” kind of days 😅 What matters most to us is communication and consideration. Giving us enough notice allows someone else to take that appointment and ensures your therapist’s time isn’t wasted. “I didn’t realise how badly Ava was affected by her skin, until one day she refused going to school and turned out it was school photos that day.” Sometimes, the impact of acne goes far beyond what we can see. The photos they avoid. The social occasions they withdraw from. The confidence that quietly begins to disappear. And often, even the most attentive parents don’t realise just how deeply their teenager is struggling. We sat down with the beautiful mum of one of our teenage clients, who shared the moment she realised just how much acne was affecting her daughter. It’s a conversation we believe more parents need to hear. 🤍 Because while hormonal changes are a normal part of adolescence, persistent acne shouldn’t simply be dismissed as something they’ll eventually grow out of. There is SO much that can be done. At Skin, our purpose is to cut through the noise. “They’re a teenager… it’s just puberty, They’ll grow out of it.” 🙆🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️🚫 We hear it ALL the time. But here’s the part we think deserves a much bigger conversation… How is their skin affecting them while they’re waiting to “grow out of it”? ❤️‍🩹😭 Some time ago, we sat down with Brenten Wellington, founder of @theblokehoodproject , and asked him about something we see in clinic every week — the impact acne can have on a young person’s confidence, self-esteem and how they feel about themselves. And his perspective has stuck with us. Because through his work with teenagers, Brenten is often hearing about the things parents may never hear about at home. The embarrassment. The comparison. The knock to their confidence. The things they avoid because they don’t feel comfortable in their skin. Meanwhile, from the outside, it can understandably look like “normal teenage acne.” And THIS is why we’re so passionate about bridging that gap at Skin Geraldton 🤍 Acne is common in adolescence. But that doesn’t mean we have to simply leave teenagers to navigate it alone.
