It’s been a good while since I did a photo shoot with a proper photographer. Last week I met @johnnyqstudio and we had a blast at his studios in the LES.
•
There was a time when I would do photo shoots three or four times a month. It’s something that I enjoy and always makes me feel good. Ever since I was a kid people would poke fun at me that I loved the camera. As I got older I learned that it’s not something to be shy about. I love my body and the esthetic I’ve cultivated over my 49 years of life and all though it doesn’t always feel or look how it did in my 20s. The practice is showing up for yourself at every age, every shape, and every mindset, and owning the fuck out of whoever you may be at that stage in life .
Plus…
My thought has always been this.
We are always changing and one day I will want to have photos of myself to look back on when that version of myself no longer exists and I have morphed into the next phase. taken in New York, New York by @skincity77

Happy Heavenly Birthday Sińead.
•
This Angel was the voice of a generation and she was cancelled because of it . She spoke out about things that people at the time weren’t ready to hear. Like racism and abuse in the Catholic Church. If she had done these things today it only would’ve made her more famous . Maybe if people had listened to her then we’d be further along with some of these issues than we are now.. I’ll never forget the first time I saw her on @mtv with her shaved head and leather jacket. I got her album “The Lion and The Cobra” and I played it so much it I wore it out. I finally saw her live in 2016 and she still had those pipes. I still know every word to every song she ever made and her music is just as moving listening to it now as it was then . Her voice is tattood on my soul forever.
I have never cried for a rock star when they died but this one got the tears.

Morning light got me feelin’ like…

How do you deal with the seasons changing? I sleep later, I get up slower and I give myself more attention. I also always try to find the light in the morning, not just for a photo, but to feel the sun on my skin for a few minutes before I make my coffee. The photo is fun but the sun is necessity. by @skincity77

This is called
‘DEAR CONFUSED FAGG0T’ and I wrote it for that sweaty , hung over 21 year old in the cover photo . Growing up in a conservative suburb was tough as a closeted gay kid. Moving to New York was when it all became easier and I found my people. Almost 30 years in this city, and the community I’ve built only gets stronger. Thank you, to all the queer folks, the gay elders, and the dancefloors that taught me and held me along the way to finding freedom. 🫂 taken in New York, New York by @skincity77

I will run this photo forever . It’s one of my favorite photos ever taken of me . The thinker is one of my favorite sculptures because…
Well, because I’m him. Always in my head, always over thinking, something that has always haunted me. At the same time I think it’s what makes me good at what I do, and makes me care about everything to a fault. At times I wish I could change it but than the Virgo kicks in and tells me to shut up and just love musket for who I am.

I always look forward to my birthday at the end of August, but it also means it’s the end of summer. As September sets in and I pull the hoodies out of storage I reluctantly wait for the air to get colder and the beach days to end . But there will always be another sunset . To your moments of silence. For the thousand car rides with mates. Our adventures in the wild. For the times that we encourage each other to do new things. For our short, last-minute trips. For your patience doing my hair that never feels perfect. For the bars and the soccer matches. The beautiful times with your closest friends. For sharing my favorite empanadas. Hiking in the Brazilian mountains. For the best raves ever danced. For the bravery of pursuing your dreams. For the moments to relax on the beach. The scooter rides in Berlin. The company when I’m making asado. The little, simple things that make you smile, and for feeding the birds on the beach with me.
