Introducing Skirt Chasers Local Vol.2: NYC is for Lesbo-Cinephiles! Our second issue contains our usual scathing cultural cliticism with a special focus on moving image culture. It’s that time of year! Introducing the first Gay Shame
Parade film festival! Hosted by Skirt Chasers local.

What are we supposed to do with the skeletons in our closets? You know them—the self-hating homosexuals, the loathsome creatures who bring it on themselves. The ones we’re embarrassed by, who give us a bad reputation?

In anticipation of Skirt Chasers Local Issue #3: Gay Shame Month, our team is presenting a selection of films that reject Pride as the only acceptable flavor of queer expression. These films don’t fit that descriptor, and instead focus on repression, concealment, damnation, fear, and self-loathing. Surprise! We have another screening lined up this month! June 20th Alcove is collaborating with Video Consortium @videoconsortium to program GENDER BENDERS: Lesbian and Trans Shorts!

This event will be from 5-9pm @thebrooklynpeacecenter ! Starting off with an archival pre-show courtesy of L.O.V.E. (Lesbian Orgnized for Video Experience) Tape Collective.

There will be food and drinks. And tabling from Lesbian Herstory Archives @lesbianherstoryarchives and Skirt Chasers Local! @skirtchaserslocal

Followed by an hour of short films and a Q&A.
