Last week at our ongoing Namuwongo Breakdance & creative development project.

Throughout last week, we provided 3 successful sessions (Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday).
Led by instructors @iamkaweesimark , Denis Ssemanda, Abdul Shakur Kwezi, @tinytrix @skoolboy_faruk @dj_e_sir ; we taught structured classes that grow breaking (breakdance) & creative skills, and important soft skills such us speaking, exercising thankfulness, sharing & teaching others, discipline, setting goals, being consistent, commitment and more. We as well incorporated creative games that nurture physical play, critical thinking, teamwork, innovation, leadership, meaningful participation and more.

Further, we have;
- Reach and engaged 35 young people on avarage (between 2.5 & 20yrs of age). 25 boys and 10 girls.
- Brought in 6 passionate and experienced artist educators & creative facilitators to deliver activities as volunteers.

Starting this week, we are putting in place a council of beneficiary members - their community, their responsibility. Let’s go!

Introducing our third and last Judge @skoolboy_faruk representing the community of Kitintale and also known for his unique style in breaking and being the champion of our very first episode in 2023.
Representing the Uganda Dance sport federation, he represented Uganda in Rabbat (Morocco) for the 2024 Olympics qualifiers championships. His style has made him a significant figure in the Ugandan breaking scene for the past years.

Introducing: Banakibuga Street Minds

Banakigbuga Street Minds er et ugandisk designerkollektiv fra Kampala, som gæster årets AFW CPH.

Ved at genbruge tøj fra Owino Market, et af Østafrikas største genbrugsmarkeder i Ugandas hovedstad Kampala, bliver fund mellem bunker af kasserede tekstiler forvandlet gennem håndværk og kreativitet.

På den måde giver Banakigbuga Street Minds tøjet en historie frem for at lade det blive til affald.

Samarbejdet præsenteres i samarbejde med den danske organisation, Dreamtown.

//  Banakibuga Street Minds is an Ugandan design collective from Kampala, joining this year’s AFW CPH.

By reusing clothing sourced from Owino Market, one of East Africa’s largest second-hand markets, located in Uganda’s capital Kampala, Banakibuga Street Minds transforms discarded textiles through craftsmanship and creativity.

In this way, the clothing is given new life and a new story rather than ending up as waste.

The collaboration is presented in partnership with the Danish organisation Dreamtown.
