Nowadays Portrait

Its been a while that we are using our phones like they were our eyes, through them we see and experience almost everything. And through phones and social media we create a role or a social identity that is not than a mask that draws our nowadays portrait.

We spend many hours everyday using our phones, taking photos, filming almost everything of our lives, using filters and masks, with the purpose of sharing it on social media. Sometimes even we don't actually enjoy the moments because we experience it through the phone screen, we miss interesting conversations that are happening, because we are texting or looking at social media or sharing something on them. We travel and discover new places but we see them also through the videos and pictures we are all time taking, instead of enjoying the moment.

Also we spend hours through feed of different social media platforms, following and looking at accounts of Lifestyle, fashion, beauty..."Influencers" that say us what to wear, what is interesting to do, where to go, how we must look like even letting in us a seed of what to think about different matters. Conditioning us and our thoughts somehow, and in occasions influencing our personality, making us feel ugly, our that our lives are not interesting or making us wish things that we don't need or actually not are interesting for us.

For these reasons I think our nowadays portrait/identity is drawn through the eyes of our phones and for the things we share on social media where everybody want to look cool and interesting, but this is actually a big mask of our lives.

Our Time. Still Us

Painted for @endoftheline_aalborg DK, Our Time. Still Us is a personal reflection on love, time, and the invisible bond between two people.

The work is about the kind of love that changes you forever. About the moments, dreams, and pieces of ourselves we leave in one another, and the universe we create together from all that we share. A universe that becomes part of who we are, even as life takes us in unexpected directions, leaving open the possibility that, one day, our paths might find their way back to each other.

Like two constellations, each with their own place in the vastness of the universe, perhaps love is not about becoming one, but about finding a way to belong to the same sky. And even when distance grows between two worlds, the light they have shared continues to travel through the universe, reaching places neither could have imagined.

Perhaps time will take us somewhere we cannot yet imagine. Perhaps some stories are not finished when we think they are. And perhaps, somewhere between what was and what is yet to come, a part of us will always belong to the same constellation.

Our time. Still us. by @skountart

Inner Work
Mural painted last August in Amsterdam

For me, Inner Work means having the courage to look within, to question myself, and to understand that recognising a pattern doesn’t mean I have to keep repeating it.

I’m in therapy. I read, I learn, I question myself and I’m doing the work. I’m learning to listen better, to recognise what I’m feeling before I react, and to be more present.

I’m also learning how my own wounds and patterns shape the way I relate to others: how I listen, how I protect myself, how I express what I feel, and how I take accountability for my part.

It isn’t always comfortable.

Wounds are the parts of me that still need to be understood.
Self-reflection is the courage to face them.
Healing is learning to relate to them differently.
Alignment is bringing what I feel, what I think and what I do closer together.
And growth is turning all that learning into action.

Because understanding isn’t enough. Change also lies in what I choose to do with what I’ve learned.

Inner Work is not a destination. It is a process. Not to become someone else. But to move closer and closer to the person I want to be. by @skountart

What Home Leaves Within Us
A new painting created for The Ghosts We Keep, a group exhibition at @poetictigergallery

The work reflects on the emotional traces we carry from home: memories, wounds, fears, and experiences that can remain within us long after we have left.

The house becomes a symbol of the past, while the universe within it represents the inner world shaped by what we have lived.

Sometimes, healing is not about leaving the past behind, but learning to see what it left within us from another perspective.

A Key to New Beginnings

I painted this mural in Amsterdam last August, developing an idea that first appeared in a drawing I made last December.

What if the key to a new beginning has never been outside of us?

The figure reaches toward a cosmic doorway as their hand transforms into a key, dissolving the boundary between the seeker and the way forward.

The doorway represents a threshold between who we have been and who we might become. To enter a new reality, we must first allow ourselves to transform.

The key is not something we find. It is something we become.

Thanks so much to @chinnybond @cafe_belgique and @mokumokum.store ✨🥂 by @skountart

INNER WORK
Mural painted las August in Amsterdam.

Notice your patterns. This phrase was the starting point for this mural.

Sometimes we need a mirror to stop and observe the things we have been repeating for a long time without fully understanding them.

Our patterns.
Our wounds.
The ways we protect ourselves.
The things we do when we feel fear, stress or vulnerability.

And the deeper we look within, the more we discover that there is never just one layer.

Beneath a pattern, there may be a wound.
Beneath a reaction, a fear.
Beneath a way of protecting ourselves, a need.

Each layer leads to another.

The Silent Guide
Painting for Illuminated Fauna exhibition at @poetictigergallery

The deer, as a spiritual and totem animal, symbolizes intuition, sensitivity, renewal, and a connection with the natural and spiritual worlds. In this work, it appears as an ancestral presence, accompanying the woman through a process of transformation.

But the deer can also be understood as a reflection of the woman herself. Perhaps it is not there to show her a new path, but to remind her of something that has always existed within her: an inner wisdom that seems to know the way before we do.

Its antlers, which grow, fall, and grow again, reinforce the ideas of rebirth, transformation, and the cycles of life.

The Silent Guide speaks of trusting what we cannot see but can feel. By listening to our intuition and understanding that sometimes, we are not meant to find a different path, but to see the one we are already walking with new eyes.

Perhaps where you were is exactly where you need to be.

You only need to learn how to see it differently.

Last July, I painted these four pieces as a series called Burnout at @docksstreetart in Almere.

In the first months of this year, I was carrying more stress than I realised, too much work, financial pressure, and external problems that I was taking on and carrying as if they were my own.

Little by little, I became mentally saturated. I felt stuck, emotionally drained and overwhelmed. Instead of stopping to understand what was happening to me, I kept pushing forward, trying to carry everything at once.

Painting became a way of processing that state of mind, a way of releasing some of what I was carrying when I couldn’t quite put it into words.

These four paintings reflect that moment: the need to slow down, look inward, recognise my limits, and understand what was happening beneath the surface.

Today, I feel in a very different place. Looking back, I see Burnout as a record of a moment when I was carrying more than I could sustain, and of the process of understanding myself better and finding a healthier balance.

Sometimes we don’t realize how much we’re carrying until we take time to reflect
