Had the pleasure of exhibiting my art this past weekend with @themk_experience. Hosted and beautifully curated by @mvtt_ & @jaicarrero. The theme of the evening: Elevation. So blessed to have been a part of something so special. 🫶🏾

🧲 cateye supremacy 🧲
Let me exit the chokehold for just a moment. For those who don’t know, cateye gels are made of pigment and magnetic particles that can be manipulated with a magnet before curing under a UV/LED lamp. The name comes from its appearance of course. 😻

All cateye gels add dimension to designs, but there are different types. Some have larger particles and appear more glittery (slide 2), while some have very small particles that make them appear more glassy (slide 3). Some are just one color (slide 5) and some have multiple colors that will appear differently depending on the angle you see them from (slide 7). They can be layered on top of other contrasting colors for cool effects (slide 9). You can create designs on top of a cateye background using matte or gloss top coats and a liner brush (slide 10). You can magnetize the surface a certain way to have the effect of a moving French tip (slide 12) or a little circle (slide 13). So on and so forth because the limit does not exist!!

Manipulating the magnetic particles can be challenging, but it’s honestly cool AF once you get the hang of it, and there’s just so much you can do with it. I’ll never get tired of cateye. 😮‍💨
