Dura-Pro™ and Dura-Pro X™ are both SPC. So what does the “X” actually change?

The biggest differences start with two numbers:

Dura-Pro™
→ 6.5 mm total thickness
→ 22 mil wear layer

Dura-Pro X™
→ 7.5 mm total thickness
→ 28 mil wear layer

Both come in 7.2" × 48" planks, with rigid SPC construction, ceramic bead UV finishes and Unilin locking systems.

Same category doesn't mean identical specification.

And neither total thickness nor wear layer should be evaluated in isolation.

The complete construction matters.

When comparing two SPC products, what's the next specification you check after the wear layer?

Engineered doesn’t mean imitation.

With Sky Axis™, the wood you see and experience at the surface is genuine hardwood—not a printed wood visual.

What makes it engineered is what happens underneath.

Sky Axis™ combines:

→ 3 mm genuine hardwood wear layer
→ 6" wide planks
→ Long plank format, up to 1900 mm / 75"
→ Multi-ply plywood core for enhanced stability

That construction matters.

The genuine hardwood wear layer delivers the natural grain, character, and variation of real wood, while the multi-ply engineered construction is designed to provide greater dimensional stability than traditional solid hardwood.

Because “engineered” describes how the floor is constructed—not whether the hardwood is real.

For flooring professionals: Which part of engineered hardwood construction do you find is most often misunderstood—the wear layer, core, or overall construction?

Real hardwood. Engineered performance. Built for today’s spaces.

Engineered doesn’t mean imitation.

With Sky Axis™, the hardwood at the surface is genuine—not a printed wood visual.

But that's only half the story.

→ 3 mm genuine hardwood wear layer
→ Multi-ply plywood core
→ 6" wide planks
→ Board lengths exceeding 6'

The hardwood surface provides the natural character of real wood. The multi-ply construction underneath is what makes it engineered.

So when you see engineered hardwood, don't stop at the category.

Look at how the product is actually built.

Flooring professionals: Which engineered hardwood specification do you compare first?

Not all engineered hardwood is built to the same specification.

Sky Axis™:
→ 6" wide planks
→ Board lengths exceeding 6'
→ 3 mm genuine hardwood wear layer
→ Multi-ply plywood core for enhanced stability
→ Engineered hardwood construction

Sky Reserve™:
→ 7.5" wide planks
→ Board lengths exceeding 7'
→ 3 mm genuine hardwood wear layer
→ Multi-ply plywood core for enhanced stability
→ Premium engineered hardwood construction

Sky's engineered hardwood offering also includes Herringbone, Chevron, matching stair treads, flush stair treads, matching moldings, and installation accessories for projects that require a more complete flooring system.

Same product category. Different specifications. Different design possibilities.

Because selecting engineered hardwood should be based on more than color—it should be based on construction, performance, and the complete flooring system.

Which specification do you compare first: construction, plank width, board length, or available formats?

Available through authorized Sky Flooring dealers.

What if the floor came first—and the rest of the palette followed?

For designers and specifiers, flooring can do more than complete a room. Its undertone, material, scale, and construction can help establish the direction for everything around it.

For our Start With the Floor series, we're exploring five Sky Flooring colors as starting points—not rules—for building a material palette.

These aren't formulas. They're starting points.

A designer may choose to harmonize with a floor's undertones—or deliberately create contrast. Understanding the product first simply gives you more information to design with.

Designers: After selecting the floor, which material do you usually choose next?

Real wood and wood-look flooring are not the same product.

Sky Axis™ features a genuine hardwood surface combined with engineered construction designed for stability in residential and light commercial spaces. That means the natural grain, texture, and variation come from real wood—not a printed visual.

But flooring professionals know that product selection should go beyond appearance.

The construction, intended application, plank design, available finishes, and coordinating components all contribute to how well a collection fits a project.

Sky Axis™ is available in Sandcrest, Driftwood, Alpine Blond, and Nordic Oak, with stair tread and flush stair tread options for projects that require continuity between the floor and staircase.

Because understanding a flooring collection means looking at more than its color.

It means understanding the product from the surface to the final transition.

What do you look at first: the surface, construction, application, or coordinating components?

One of the biggest misconceptions in flooring is that there's a single "best" product.

In reality, the right flooring depends on the application.

A residential living room and a commercial office may both use engineered hardwood, but the questions asked during product selection are often very different.

For example, flooring professionals may consider:

➡️ Expected foot traffic
➡️ Maintenance requirements
➡️ Design objectives
➡️ Installation conditions
➡️ Long-term performance expectations

Those factors help determine which product is the best fit for the project—not simply which floor looks the most attractive.

At Sky Flooring, we believe product selection should begin with understanding how a space will be used.

Because great flooring isn't defined by whether it's commercial or residential.

It's defined by whether it's appropriate for the application.

When evaluating a project, what's the first specification you consider before recommending a flooring product?
