I appreciate the opportunity to watch and support this project, and the shout out.

So I just finished watching the movie yesterday and I will say that I was quite pleasantly surprised and entertained. It did make me reflect and ponder on how multi layered this film was in terms of themes: how people handle and deal with grief, loss, and how it affects not just the individual but also the people around said individual.

Themes addressed: grief, loss, guilt, family, hate, revenge, psychological trauma, power, corruption, forgiveness.

Like I said, multi layered.

Aaron Schoenke is both director and actor in this film as he plays Jai, the corporate pharmacist who is given a half piece of the crystal of the White Dragon by Ashtagor.

Jason David Frank plays Erik Reed, a former treasure hunter like his father (played by Michael Madsen) who is also the White Dragon. As for the circumstances on how Erik gets the crystal, that detail is explained by Xang played by the amazing actor Mark Dacascos.

After the fight between Ashtagor and the White Dragon levels the city of Virtuo, the blame on Erik Reed, while superficially understandable, as most viewers are likely to suspect, is misguided.

How both Erik and Jai deal with that grief and loss after 3 years, well…you see it in their actions and their flashback memories. The irony of corrupt cops and politicians is nothing new to me.

The fight between Erik and Jai, visually, it’s pretty good and roughly inspired from my observation…DBZ. While the film is a bit short, does it tell what it needs to within the timeframe given? Yes. Is it perfect? Far from it, objectively. Subjectively…I really enjoyed it.

I’ll be blunt…I would have loved to talk with Mark Dacascos on some…philosophical details regarding Japanese culture.

To close, I will quote from a specific 90s film that addresses one of the themes in this one.

“Anger clouds the mind. Turned inward it is an unconquerable enemy” - Mike Clash (Splinter) TMNT 1990.

Objectively: 7/10, Subjectively: 8/10.

Thank you for the memories JDF, Michael Madsen. RIP. by @skyhound828

So I attended @round1usa at Santa Ana Marketplace with my best friend and it was my first time.  I had mentally debated with myself in choosing the yearly club card which had a customizable choice or a regular red game club card. I went with the regular one. (Personally I should have gone with the club card).

But as a result I got one of the promo acryllic keychains. While heading over there, the classic Godzilla theme was playing in my head on repeat.

So here’s how the points work here: the points on the card serve as the currency, the tickets are digital and serves as points for the Victory Room where you can exchange it for prizes.

I tried one of the popular games, Godzilla Kaijuu Drop (a coin format game), but using marbles. The cards used in the game serve as ticket points that go to your game club card. I only got one, which gave me 50 points. The picture I took explains the use of them.

In addition, I did a bit of basketball shooting and mostly skeeball (which was in the form of Pac-Man design.  However, I didn’t expect a hidden hole behind the 10K hole).

The crane games and a conveyor belt game are the ones where you can easily get drained of points (coins). Tried one or two of them and my earlier suspicions of the crane tricking you after getting the item came to fruition.  The game tricks you into spending more points. I had a limited amount so I cut my losses.

One of the Dance Dance Revolution machines actually rewarded you with ticket points by playing, which I did with my best friend.  Some songs from Japan were thankfully on the machine which was fun. (Been a long time since I did that rhythm game).

I then closed out the time there by playing Godzilla Kaijuu Wars (based also on the Toho movie of the same name). An arcade shooter.  The music rhythm game called MaiMai…that was fun. But I realized early on…you need certain gloves for it to play.

This one was easy for me to follow.  Thankfully.

I exchanged my accumulated points, including the one from the Godzilla Kaijuu Drop, (50 points), for a luggage tag.  Cute one too.

Tried one of the non alcohol drinks and got a coaster.

Not sure if most would catch this, but it's probably because some of us 90s kods are able to notice the distinct voice of Mr. Kaye in other IPs (Beast Wars or X-Men Evolution), but I wonder how many recognize him narrating on this trailer for Gundam Wing Endless Waltz? If you recognize him as Treize from Gundam Wing, then this should make sense. I even reocgnized his voice on the intro for Ronin Warriors (unless I am mistaking one guy for another)

I wonder if my recognition of certain patterns gets lost on others. While I do play SD Gundam G Generations Eternal, for those who got the UR Wing Zero Custom (EW), as is apparent by the screenshot I have (didn't get duplicates sadly to get to 3 star)...(not sure how GIFs would work on Instagram)...using a specific skills causes Wing Zero to do a familiar pose like the pilot. Which is why I have 3 screenshots. (2nd from Just Communication, and the 3rd from the 30th anniversary animation, which references Frozen Teardrop (and the Snow White Wing Zero)). #wingzeroew #sdgundamggenerationeternal #endlesswaltz by @skyhound828

"It has begun!"

"Get over here!"

On this day, Mortal Kombat turns 30 years old. I remember watching an animated film which gives a rough summary of the live action film the year before in 1994 on a VHS tape only PARTICULAR MK fans of the 90s would know. Titled "The Journey Begins", it introduced particular characters from the Mortal Kombat games that would also be featued in the film. However, particular characters from MK2 which was after the OG game would also be added: Kitana and Reptile. In The Journey Begins, Kano is referenced but never shown.

The film definitely has a lot of memories for fellow Kombatants, even me. The classic electronic theme, the fight scenes, and a few references to game locations are sprinkled in this film.

Two particular individuals from this movie stood out to me: Hakim Alston, who portrays a warrior monl that fights Liu Kang in the first fight of the tournament, and @chriscasamassa who portrays Scorpion, not just in this film but the short lived TV show Mortal Kombat Konquest. (Yeah...I know the show). One additonal geek detail is that both men were a part of a show in the 90s called WMAC Masters. Chris was known as Red Dragon, while Hakim was known by The Machine. Additionally, Chris was also a stuntman on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as well.

Happy 30th to the OG Mortal Kombat film. Shout out to all the Kombatant fans in the world who love this film.

Such good times. #MortalKombat95 #LiuKang #Raiden #Scorpion #subzero

#RIPJDF #riprobertaxelrod #RIPRobertManahan #MMPR95Movie30Years

Crazy how time flies. I remember asking a few things about the film at Anime Expo in 2009 when I didn't even know of Power Morphicon then. I still remember when I was 7 years old and we had a Laser Disc player. We borrowed the film, I was already a Power Rangers fan, but...I collected very few of the toys. Had some of the junior books via book orders as a kid (gosh I feel old), and I remember briefly the mini promo during one of the Awards shows to help promote the movie. A suit actor wearing the White Ranger suit for the film. (Yeah...that far back people). I had it recorded on a VHS-R back then. The movie.

While it has been a long time since then...I slowly began to remind myself that there are those who don't get enough credit. Especially the suit actors. The pictures from the autographs I got in 2009 from Anime Expo on the 2009 program book...I only have the pictures as proof. First time I met Steve Cardenas, Karan Ashley, Patricia Ja Lee, Catherine Sutherland and Robert Axelrod.

One of the questions I asked Robert Axelrod that time had to do with Finster and Lord Zedd. I asked which of the 2 he enjoyed playing. I was told Finster. Thank you for the memories Robert Axelrod, JDF, and Robert Manahan (2nd VA of Zordon). Gone but never forgotten. #ItsMorphinTime by @skyhound828

General thoughts on #F1TheMovie

Very exhilarating and while it does give a general glimpse into the sport, I find some quotes regarding not just addressing the obvious generation disconnect that doesn't get addressed enough with some stories, but also how some athletes are not so different from the ones they looked up to.

"Participation trophy, isn't that right?" (Generation A, and B)...and most of Gen Z.

The quote applies to them perfectly.

Especially when repeating errors and not realizing that with the young, despite their energy and tenacity...as someone else once said: They have been told that all their lives. They still have a lot to learn. (Although one can argue the same with the generation previous when you apply it).

The performance of Brad Pitt and Damson Idris is really good to be honest.

However...there's a particular component that I find is not addressed enough and constantly lost with postmodern generations (the ones I found the film taking a justified jab against). [It has nothing to do with gender or national born ethnicity, it's what you bring to the table. Old notion but has more weight than I give it for].

At least the film has its own way of addressing this.

#ShouldYouAccept #MissionImpossibleTheFinalReckoning

After letting the last few moments of the film simmer in my mind, I find that despite the story being super bloated in trying to connect particular dots...the exposition info dump was scatter brained in summary. Pacing was just one of many issues. In terms of villains, Solomon Lane and the Syndicate as well as Owen Davian...those were better written villains compared to Gabriel and the so-called AI for the last two.

Was it a sort of last hurrah of sorts and a decent send off for Ethan and the others? Yes. I will say that the way the villain of Gabriel was taken out was a bit comedic. Overall, this was still better than the 2nd film regarding entertainment (2nd was regarding a virus named Chimera, and had Anthony Hopkins being the director of the IMF at that point).

This one was a bit more eventful for me at least. I got to meet a few VAs that I wanted to talk to. @cristinavox I recall talking with once via Galaxycon some years ago one on one chat about Sailor Moon and a bit of Magical Lyrical Girl Nanoha. I also still remembered when she was temporarily a part of the Rangerverse (via Power Rangers Hyperforce as the first female Black Ranger), which I touched upon a bit. I'm glad she remembered me. I was really excited to talk with @melfahn and @wendee_lee_vo a bit about Magic Knight Rayearth since I was obviously a fan of the anime (which was the reason I brought the books with me), and of course I play Honkai Star Rail (since Melissa voices Silver Wolf). Also came across some good cosplays and I took part in the Pin Button Scavenger hunt like I did in 2022. So much fun. Even though it was only for a day, I did manage to make the most of it. Really glad I took the opportunity. That morph with the Master Morpher was for you Jason David Frank. You are missed by many. While this is obviously from promoting Penacony, I still find it hilarious in English or any of the other languages. But I do get that it comes out at times differently in the other languages but it's so fun to listen to. Except in the Chinese version...it's a bit longer. @melfahn @analesafisher Hope you two don't mind me tagging you both. I definitely want to ask about your thoughts on this one. So much fun to listen to. by @skyhound828

So why did I decide to delete the original post? Simple. Forgot the watermark. Overall, I did sort of enjoy my time at the convention, but I also realized a few things. Red Rangers often have a LONG LINE. Second, spatial awareness...but sometimes when my mind overthinks things...it often gets in my way of analyzing the simple bits. As for the panel, I did enjoy it, but technical difficulties with the microphone...not surprised.

I was able to get some questions answered when I stopped by Austin St John's booth on a couple of things. I did get a chance to interview Mike Chat, stop by Mark Richardson's booth to get a piece of media history and also finally reunite with @erikbetts. I couldn't help but mention about Mike Chat being around and as Mr. Betts was explaining to me and my best friend about some bts on MMPR, both me and Erik see Mike walking past for a moment before they recognized each other. Such a cool moment reuniting a few WMAC Masters cast members. @infinitehallway at least I got to see them together. by @skyhound828
