Quicksilver by @calliehartauthor 🦋

💜 No spoilers ahead 💜

I will try to explain my self about HOW MUCH I liked this book. I mean, it’s going straight to my top five favourite reads of this year.

The story was well developed, it has a good pace which makes you want to read one more chapter, which inevitably leads to read the next, and so on. Definitely, it’s a book you wouldn’t want to put down once you start reading. I felt the hunger of discovering more and more about the worlds its set in, their characters and all the intrigues it hides.

About the characters. OMG, I like them, ALL OF THEM. I don’t usually like ALL characters -main and secondary- because there’s usually someone who doesn’t make it for me, but in this case the author has outdone herself.

And about the main ones. I loved Saeris and Kingfisher, how the punches life had thrown them has sculpted their personalities and how enduring them has led them to become what they are. I loved their loyalty and their resilience, their courage and their weakness, oh, and even their stubbornness. But first and foremost, I LOVED their relationship. The angst at the beginning which leads inevitability to a desire and lust none of them are capable of disregard, which at the same time it leads to a kind of love only souls made for each other could reach. Not only did I enjoyed their spicy scenes together -which were sooo good-, but the softer and caring ones, the moments in which the little details became were the purest show of affection, the moments in which a different kind of heat put a smile of your face while reading. I loved them as a couple and I would like to see how are their dynamics after THAT ending.

Howeeeeever… the honour mention goes to… Carrion F*cking Swift. Why I loved. Every. Single. Time. That man opened his mouth??? Gods, it was so refreshing… I must admit I laughed my head off a couple of times with his occurrences, and that it’s been a while since I have cheered and have been that curious about a secondary character.

Soooooo, to sum up. GO and READ IT. You can thank me later. by @skylar_books

What’s better than having a friend to fangirl with about a bookish boyfriend??? Well, having a friend who can actually bring him to life with her talent 😏

Working together in this drawing has been a whole new experience, it was so fun to brainstorming and discussing the details together.

Spoiler-free review

The Coven by Harper L. Woods (@harperlwoodsauthor) came into my hands in a moment I desperately craved a dark story with a morally grey MMC and a non-admitting-bullshit FMC. I must admit this book delivered.

I liked the world-building with how the witches were organized and the particularities of their ways. I must admit that sometimes, particularly at the beginning, I was a bit lost but throughout the pages I got to understand better their history and how the got to become witches, something which is a pivotal event during the book.
I liked the FMC overall, her bravery and how she’s willing to anything in other to fulfill her legacy. The only thing I missed from her was that I would liked to see how she build a relationship with her roommates and another male secondary character.

About the MMC… WTF.
He’s a Vessel, which is like some think of vampire (they drink blood) that have a close relationship with the Coven due to their creation in that world. But, let’s return to the important part. As I said at the begging I expected a morally grey character, what was my surprise when I found out that he was a morally black character 🤡. I mean, he’s the f*cking villain of the book, as the author warn us in her dedication. So obviously, I loved reading his POV 🫣

About their relationship. This might be the most controversial thing about the book. Some would called it insta-love but I wouldn’t even named it as that. I would say that it’s more like an insta-lust, because I don’t think even the word love could be considered at end of the book, not at least in this first part. ‘Cause, hell, they hate each other and the angst it’s between them in every scene of them together. So, no, not love, but a deep hatred intertwined with lust. Who doesn’t like a big douse of angst??? 😏

So, are you in the mood for a dark twisted story about witches and blood-suckers? Do you crave a MMC with a morality more than questionable? So read this book and let’s talk about that end, I have to admit that the last 20% was top. I was so thrilled and the ending is so apocalyptic that the next day I started the second book 🤭 by @skylar_books

575 layers later… a whole month working at nights after the currently commissions that I had at that moment and barely sleeping like all the artists who have worked on this project.

Possibly one of the biggest drawings I’ve ever done, and I’m really happy to be a part of this book. Thanks again to Natt for giving me a spot and for the blind trust (she only saw the full drawing the last day 😂).

And thank you to my bestie Skylar, she made most of the stickers, posters, and graffiti you see, and she’s also the person who gives meaning to my crazy ideas. Without her, I would never have finished this drawing!
You said it was a crazy idea, that it was too much for a month, and that I should think of something else. Luckily, I didn’t listen to you, but thanks anyway for supporting my idea.

I’m really new to the Sleep Token community, but I couldn’t have felt more welcomed and surprised by it. I ended up on this project by accident, and along the way I met incredible people to share my devotion to this band with, people I can call friends and will probably see at some ritual in the future (please, European tour!!).
It was a lot of work, but every second was worth it 😭

September Doves is a magnificent debut by Emerson Hoyt. While the book is primarily a contemporary romance, mistery, action and witty banter are not left out of the equation. This story is a perfect blend of various elements, including the found family trope, secret societies, and spicy scenes — good spicy scenes, if I may say so.
Even though it was recommended by @nesismatic, I started reading it with 0 expectations, and OMG, I was more than pleasantly surprised — specially considering it’s the author debut.

What can I say? I’m a sucker for a MMC with a menacing look and a teddy bear personality. Colton deserves all good things coming his way.
The FMC has, as well, a solid character arc. She feels authentic throughout the story, and it’s easy to emphasize with her as the events unfold. One of the things I enjoyed most was her relationship with her sister, and how both navigate their complex family dynamics.

A big shout out to all the secondary characters who made this book so entertaining and heartwarming! The found-family trope is always welcomed in this house 😌

Once again, congrats to Emmerson — I’ll see you in the next book!! 💜

Hi! Here it comes the super unboxing of the box @nesismatic sent me last week.

Both shirts and the Download coin of Sleep Token were of a joined order we made to split the shipping costs 😌

Don’t miss the prints she sent me! They’re gorgeous 🥹 Not to mention those both originals, I treasure them the most 💜

Btw, love the stickers 😏 Can you decipher what does it mean the one with the acronym? 🤭

🖤🌊

I will read EVERY. F*CKING. SINGLE. BOOK. RuNyx writes 🙂‍↕️

I don’t know where to start because I adored Salem and Caz’s story from beginning to end. There’s a wild chemistry between them, but at the same time, so many moments of vulnerability.

I can’t fully express how truly seen I felt reading from Salem’s POV, her analytical way of seeing the world (except her curiosity about the dead, haha), how she feels about her family, her trust issues that prevent her from opening up to others, and even how her brain processes different sounds and how those make her feel. But what made my eyes sting was witnessing how she had this tough shell around her at the begging of the book and how Caz broke through it to reach the real Salem, the real woman behind all that hurt and shame and sadness.

What did I like the most besides the main characters?
RuNyx’s writing style, it gets me every time I read one of her books. She paints scenes so vividly and conveys her characters’ emotions with such lyricism that it’s impossible not to be transported into the setting or to emphatize with what the characters are feeling.

Congrats, RuNyx, on writing such amazing book! I’ll meet you in the next one 💜

Hi! Any worshipper in here?

Two months ago I was introduced by my bestie @nesismatic to Sleep Token and… OMG how is that I haven’t heard anything about them before??? Vessel is a freaking genius, his songs gut-wrenching soul-shattering masterpieces and I’m here for all of them.

I’ve been playing Even In Arcadia, their last album, on a daily basis since they released it and when listening to its songs I couldn’t help it and recalled some of my favorite books.
So here we are!

Warning: spoilers of Blood and Steel

Vows & Ruins is the perfect sequel to Blood and Steel. In here, we follow Thea in her journey to become a Warsword while both she and Wilder fight their feelings for one another.

I loved how this book expanded the world-building, both in dark creatures and Thea’s family and their story. It’s just as well-paced as the previous one and maintains the elements I loved in Blood and Steel plus the amount of spice that, understandably, we didn’t get before. Oh, the spice. So much smut. I think the author wanted to compensate the few sex scenes on the previous book. Zero complaints, though. Top-tier spicy scenes—100% recommend.

Cal and Kipp? Oh my god, the best secondary characters, they are soooo funny. Not to mention the found family they form along with Torj and Wren (oh, the way I ship those two).

One thing that surprised me was how well the war scenes were written, they’re raw and vividly depicted and I found it refreshing in a Romantasy book such level of epicness. And for how things evolve in this part of the series I’m confident we’ll get more of it.

And, EXCUSE ME???!!! THAT ENDING??????? A dagger in the heart would have hurt me less :(
I need answers, so many answers.
The next book is gonna break me in pieces, that’s for sure.
