getting slightly sappy for a sec. its my momma’s birthday, but also my first night back at school for my senior year, so im feeling extra ~emotional~
mom, there will never be enough words to describe how much you mean to me. you have a heart bigger than anyone i know. a laugh that can make someones entire day. a soul so genuine and so pure that it will never go unnoticed. you’re the kind of person who has everyones back even if you don’t know them personally. constantly giving to everyone, even if you don’t have much to give. you have been there for me through my best times and also through my worst times. you just always know the right things to say. you have taught me to always wear my heart on my sleeve regardless of how fearful i am of rejection. you have taught me to always be honest, real, and true to who i am no matter how many people hurt me or make me feel like i should change. you’ve taught me to be loyal, and kind, and to always stand up for what’s right even if no one else agrees with me. you’ve taught me that being selfless doesn’t mean you don’t care any less about yourself; it instead means making sure you do take care of yourself, but you always take care of others too. you’ve taught me that it is perfectly okay to not know what my “next move” is because “everything always happens the way it’s supposed to.” most of all you’ve taught me that being a mom is one of the hardest yet most rewarding jobs in the world. just because its not a “paid” job doesn’t mean its any less hard or any less important. somehow you make juggling five kids look easy. i still don’t know how you do it. you are my super hero, my best friend, my twin flame. i am so lucky God made you my mom. i hope to be half the woman you are someday. happy birthday, i love you!
ps- im going to miss having our dunkin together on the deck everyday ❤️ by @skylarlacey

I keep wishing that this nightmare would end, and I’d just wake up.
Mom, you will never truly understand how much you mean to me. I’ve been delaying writing this because no amount of words can adequately express how special you are. When I was in the ICU, saying my final goodbyes to you, I turned to the nurse and told her, “This lady is the best mom out there. I know you probably hear that a lot in here, because every kid thinks they have the greatest mom in the world, but this woman right here really is.” I meant that with every ounce of my heart. YOU are the absolute BEST mom in the world. Although you are no longer here that will forever hold true. Honestly, you excelled in everything you did. You were not only the best mom, but also the best wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Your laughter could change the atmosphere of an entire room, your smile could brighten anyone’s day, and you have a heart bigger than anyone I’ve ever known. You were truly one of a kind. You were different then everyone else. While others sought material possessions, you cherished quality time with your family. A Walmart sweatshirt, leggings, and a pair of flip flops was all you needed. While you’d spend your last cent making sure the rest of us had exactly what we wanted. Judgment was never in your nature; you treated everyone with kindness and respect, regardless of their appearance, circumstances or abilities. You saw people for who they truly were, and opened your heart to them in return. I will spend the rest of my life trying to be more like you mom. Not a day will go by that I won’t think of you, talk to you, or cry to you. This heartbreak is indescribable and unrepairable. You were and will forever be my bestest and truest friend. I will never have another friend like you again in my life.
Here celebrating one last Christmas with us, smiling and laughing then gone the next. If this has taught me anything it’s to never take a single breath for granted. Nothing in this life is guaranteed. My mom loved unconditionally every single day. Those who knew her can attest to that. She most definitely did not deserve this, but God seems to take the good ones first.

It’s hard to find the right words to describe just how thankful I am. 🙏🏻💜

Walking into a sea of purple to honor my mom is something I will truly never forget. It genuinely felt like she was there with us. I remember thinking that day how annoying it was that the sun was shining so brightly through the shades. Looking back at these photos now and seeing the light pouring into the room so beautifully, it feels like a little reminder that my mom and all of our angels were with us that day. 🪽🦋☀️

There will never be words to describe how deeply I miss her or how badly I wish she were here.

Thank you to my sister @avalacey , my best friend @jessbutler186 , my Mom-Mom, and my dad for helping put together the most beautiful day. Having all of the women I love in one room meant everything to me. Missing my favorite woman of all was incredibly hard, but in my heart, I know she was there. 💜

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us at @ristorantelimoncello , the place where Bryce and I had our very first date in 2022. Being able to celebrate this milestone there made it even more meaningful.

A special thank you to @maiden.flores.floral.designs for creating the most beautiful bouquets for the incredible women in my life and for making the stunning grave blanket for my mom. Bringing it to her grave the night before my shower and honoring her with it at her reserved seat was something I’ll treasure forever.

Thank you, @francescarossillophotos , for capturing every moment so beautifully. My mom was always our “picture lady,” and your kindness filled a space that felt so empty that day. These are memories I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.

Thank you to @bellabelleshoes for gifting me the most perfect shoes for my shower. The beautiful butterflies and the perfect touch of purple made it feel like my mom was walking beside me every step of the day. 🦋

There will never be enough thank-yous for everyone who showed up, loved on us, and made this day unforgettable. This season has been incredibly bittersweet, but because of all of you, this day was so incredibly sweet. 💜 taken in Limoncello Chester Springs by @skylarlacey

Saturday marked our 2nd annual fundraising event in honor of my mom 💜 This year we tried something new, a 5K walk/run at Carpenter Park in Horsham, one of her favorite walking spots. The day was perfect. Warm, sunny, not a cloud in the sky. It truly felt like she was with us.

I’m so proud to share we surpassed our goal, raising over $19,000, and more than last year! During the event, I met a young girl who battles chronic pancreatitis and came after seeing our event posts. Hearing her story and seeing her want to join our chapter reminded me exactly why we do this, to share my mom’s story and bring hope to others.

To my amazing family & fiancé, your love, support, and hard work mean more than words can say. From making the event t-shirts, to setup to clean up and every little detail in between, you helped me pull this off. I couldn’t do it without you. We make such a strong team, and I know Mommy is watching over us, beaming with pride. Everything we do, we do for her. 💜

To our incredible sponsors, thank you for believing in our mission and helping keep my mom’s legacy alive. Your generosity made this day possible in every way. And to everyone who donated raffle baskets, you went above and beyond. The love and thought you poured into each basket were felt by everyone there. You helped turn something meaningful into something truly magical

The turnout blew us away! A true testament to who my mom was and how many lives she touched. She was one in a million, and we are so glad others feel the same💜Thank you for joining us. We will never forget this day🙏🏻

P.S~ After my mom passed, when we went through her phone, this was the last song she had listened to. Every time I hear it, I can’t help but cry, but I knew it had to be part of this post.

She truly is “alive.” Maybe not in the physical sense, but through her love, her legacy, and all of you who continue to honor her memory. You help us keep her spirit shining every single day.🪽

I miss you more than words, Mom. I wish I could change our reality, but instead, I’ll keep telling your story-
to help others,
and to make sure the world never forgets what a wonderful person you were. 💜 taken in Samuel Carpenter Park by @skylarlacey

Still pinching myself! There really are no words to describe just how special this day was. Bryce, from the moment I met you at that bar in West Chester, you left your mark on me. You have been such a gift, not only to me but to my family, and that is all I could ever ask for in a life partner.

Anyone who knows me knows how deeply important my family is to me, and you embraced that with your whole heart. You don’t just take care of me you take care of them too. These past three and a half years have been nothing short of a blessing.

You are the best son, brother, entrepreneur, partner, and friend. You are kind, motivated, inspiring, and endlessly caring. I thank God every single day that you’re mine.

My mom always said you were “the best”, and knowing that brings me so much comfort and joy because I know she was right, and I know she was smiling down on us🤍

& to my soon-to-be mother-in-law and sister-in-laws thank you for helping Bryce make this day absolutely perfect. Thank you for adding all of the thoughtful touches to include our angels and for making sure they were still a part of this day. That meant more than words can ever say.💜🪽

This past weekend, I had the immense honor of attending the DDNC’s Public Policy Forum. Every year, NPF selects a stipend recipient to attend the forum and share their story, and I am deeply grateful they offered me this incredible opportunity. We spent a productive day on Capitol Hill, engaging with members of Congress and advocating for a range of digestive diseases.
I was there to share my mom’s story and to advocate for increased funding for pancreatitis research. I will never stop fighting for her. Her story is every family’s worst nightmare, the kind of thing you see in movies or hear about from a distance and think, “God bless that family; I can’t imagine what they’re going through.” But when I share her story, it still feels like I’m telling someone else’s. Like I didn’t live through it. It still doesn’t feel real💔
Pancreatitis, whether acute, chronic, or autoimmune-related, is an incredibly painful, debilitating illness. We must do everything in our power to research this disease to prevent it from affecting anyone else. We need more funding for research so we can develop better treatments, find ways to detect it earlier, create tools for active prevention, and, hopefully, discover a cure someday.
It was an incredible experience to share my mom’s story with members of Congress and advocate for pancreatitis patients. We met some truly remarkable people and formed connections that I will always cherish. I’m excited to attend this forum in the years ahead, with the hope of reconnecting with everyone and continuing to build these relationships year after year.
I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to my family and my boyfriend, Bryce, for their unwavering support and for helping me find the courage to take on opportunities like this. Bryce, I can’t imagine having anyone else by my side advocating for my mom. Thank you for always believing in me and supporting not only me, but my entire family. I am lucky to be loved by you.
p.s~As Bryce & I were walking back a female cardinal flew right infront of us in what felt like slow motion💜🪽Cardinal’s are my mom’s sign, so I knew that was her letting me know she was there💜
i love & miss you mommy💔 taken in Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. by @skylarlacey
