Do your WARM-ups.

Take 5–15 minutes to actually increase your muscle temperature.

This is one of the most important parts of warming up, and honestly, it’s most of what I do before my workouts.

Unless you have a nagging ache or pain that could benefit from some additional mobility work, you probably don’t need an elaborate warm-up routine.

Just spend a little time getting physically warm before jumping into your workout.

Your muscles will contract faster, you’ll feel less stiff, and the rest of your workout will probably feel a whole lot better. by @skyparsonnet

You want to test to see where you’re at? But is it worth it?

You push really hard to get to the goal now, but that leaves you exposed

You want to blow up your squat so you run a 4 week program to get there

You’ve spent a month on grueling workouts that leave you constantly tired. You can’t focus outside of the gym. You’ve gained 10lbs. Your joints hurt. You might even be injured

Now you deload and test. Maybe you hit your goal, maybe you don’t. Either way, you need a week or two to recover.

Fast results go away even faster

Whenever I push really hard to hit a goal, I’m not able to maintain it. When I benches 315 for the first time, it took me over a year to get back because I had to battle through all of the injuries I had in the pursuit.

Slow your progress down to what’s manageable

Work toward your goal slowly and methodically. We’re training at the gym. It’s not a competition

If you are pushing for a competition, ignore everything I said here. Go all out. Just know, it will probably set you back in the long run. by @skyparsonnet

If everything is a priority, nothing is

BUUUUTT you can improve in multiple areas by not overdoing volumes of your priority. Prioritize your fitness through exercise order, scheduling, and intensities. Don’t make it a priority by throwing endless volume at it by @skyparsonnet
