Snoqualmie Falls — 12/11/25.
The Snoqualmie River is flowing at powerful levels today, with 21,600 CFS near Snoqualmie and ~70,300 CFS downstream at Carnation.

These extraordinary flows have pushed the river well above normal for this time of year, transforming Snoqualmie Falls into a roaring display of winter water power. Seasonal flooding is common in the valley, but events of this magnitude are uncommon, usually occurring only during major storms

Aerial view taken November 2025 — Rattlesnake Ridge’s gigantic chasm is the result of a slow-moving landslide first detected when a tension crack appeared in October 2017. Geologists discovered a 20-acre block of Columbia River basalt sliding south along a weaker sediment layer beneath it.

At its peak, the ridge was shifting 1.6–1.7 feet per week, later slowing to about 1 foot per week as the terrain adjusted. The moving block is enormous — roughly 4 million cubic yards, stretching 1,700 ft long, 850 ft wide, and close to 200 ft thick.

Researchers believe this may be a reactivation of an ancient landslide, dormant for centuries or even millennia. While there were early concerns it could threaten I-82, nearby homes, or the Yakima River, experts now expect it to gradually slump into the quarry below — where debris may help stabilize the slope.

A rare chance to witness and document a landslide actively reshaping the land in real time.

🌿🍻 23rd Annual Fresh Hop Ale Festival | Yakima, WA | 10/10/26

Celebrating the Yakima Valley’s hop-growing heritage! The 23rd annual Fresh Hop Ale Festival brought together craft beer enthusiasts and brewers to celebrate the fresh hop harvest and an industry that helps put our region on the map. 🌎

Did you know the Yakima Valley grows roughly 75% of the hops produced in the United States? Our climate, irrigation and agricultural expertise have made this region a major player in the global brewing industry.

📸 I captured plenty of moments throughout the evening, and the full photo gallery is available to view and purchase through Sky’s Shutter!

Yakima Flock Camera Reinstalled After Being Cut Down in August | $500 - $2,000 Replacement Cost to Taxpayers

Yakima, WA | October 2026

The south-facing Flock camera near 66th Avenue and Englewood Avenue, which I first documented after it was cut down on August 5, 2026, has recently been reinstalled.

When the camera was originally cut down, YPD Chief Shawn Boyle told NonStop Local News that repairing or replacing it could cost approximately $2,000, with the expense ultimately falling on taxpayers because the damage was not covered under the city's existing service agreement. I was told in a separate email from YPD that it could be anywhere from $500 - $2,000 to replace it.

While checking out the reinstalled camera, I noticed what appeared to be a saw blade, possibly from a band saw, near the site. I don't recall seeing it when I photographed the area back in August, but I cannot confirm whether it has any connection to the camera being cut down.

The north-facing camera at the same intersection was also cut down and remains absent. Currently, only a short section of pipe remains sticking out of the ground where the camera once stood. It's unclear whether that camera will be reinstalled.

These cameras were automated license plate readers (ALPRs), which are different from the 300 new live-feed camera models being installed at locations around Yakima and through the countywide camera project.

The installation comes as public debate continues over Flock cameras, surveillance technology, privacy, and how these systems should be used in our communities.

What do you think? Should these cameras be reinstalled at the taxpayer's expense?

Vehicle Hits Trees, Rolls Over on 64th Avenue in Yakima; Possible Alcohol Involvement Under Investigation

📍 Yakima, WA | October 12, 2026

Around 1:18 a.m., emergency crews responded to a serious single-vehicle collision near Terry Avenue and 64th Avenue in Yakima.

According to information from the scene, the vehicle was traveling northbound on 64th Avenue when it reportedly crossed into the oncoming lane and continued into the trees along the roadway. The vehicle clipped tree branches along the way and lost its front bumper.

Officers believe the vehicle may have rolled before coming to rest facing southbound, pressed against the trees along 64th Avenue.

When officers arrived, the driver was reportedly found unconscious in the passenger seat with the vehicle keys around his neck, apparently attached to a lanyard. He was breathing but unresponsive.

The vehicle was pinned against the trees on the passenger side, trapping the driver inside. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to remove the driver's side door and extricate him from the wreckage.

An open, empty bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and a corkscrew were reportedly found inside the vehicle. These items raise questions about possible alcohol involvement, but it has not been confirmed whether alcohol played a role in the collision.

The driver was transported by ambulance to the hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Further details about the driver's condition and the cause of the crash have not been confirmed.

🚨 Vehicle Crashes Into Orchard Hills Dentistry in Yakima

Yakima, WA | October 11, 2026

A red Dodge Charger crashed into Orchard Hills Dentistry near 48th Avenue and Summitview on Sunday.

According to a witness, the vehicle began swerving into oncoming traffic. The witness slowed down, initially thinking the driver was turning. The Charger continued forward, struck a curb, traveled through a garden and over landscaping rocks, clipped a post, and ultimately crashed into the building.

The vehicle's airbags deployed during the collision. Emergency personnel checked the driver at the scene, and he appeared to be okay.

The driver reportedly told responders that he has epilepsy and believes he blacked out. He said he did not remember the incident and only recalled waking up as the vehicle went over the curb, just before impact.

No arrests appeared to have been made at the time of this report.

🐾 Meet Jerry and Shadow, a familiar duo at the Central Washington Agricultural Museum in Union Gap!

While doing a Halloween cosplay photoshoot at the museum, Shadow suddenly came over to greet us and quickly became the star of the show! He rolled over for belly rubs and soaked up all the attention. 😂

Moments later, I met Jerry Warner, who helps maintain the museum grounds. He shared Shadow's story and the potential changes that could keep his four-legged companion on a leash instead of freely exploring the park.

According to Jerry, Shadow enjoys greeting visitors, playing with other dogs, and joining people on hikes along nearby trails. He even alerts Jerry when coyotes and other potential predators are nearby.

After our conversation, I promised Jerry I'd return with my camera to help share their story.

📣 HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Jerry is asking community members who want to see Shadow remain part of the park to contact the City of Union Gap and share their thoughts.

☎️ Union Gap City Hall: (509) 248-0432

Jerry says he may start a petition if Shadow is required to remain on a leash.

📍 Visit the Central Washington Agricultural Museum at Fullbright Park to explore local history and, hopefully, meet Jerry and Shadow!

Have you met Shadow? Share your experiences in the comments! 🐶

📸 THE AFTERMATH: TRUCK ENDS UP INSIDE TERRACE HEIGHTS 7-ELEVEN

Two women reportedly stopped at the 7-Eleven before 2am and went inside to purchase alcohol. After returning to their silver truck, they spent a few minutes in the parking lot before the truck suddenly came crashing through the front doors.

The call came over the scanner around 2:03am.

The truck continued all the way into the building, leaving shelves and merchandise heavily damaged throughout the store.

The employee working inside was luckily in the back corner when the crash happened and was able to avoid being struck. He described the shelves appearing to close in around him as the truck came through.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

According to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, a 51-year-old Wapato woman was arrested and booked into jail for DUI, two counts of reckless endangerment, and driving with a suspended license.

The truck was reportedly still drivable and was later removed from the scene by a family member.

This post is in addition to the video I captured and shared separately, showing the truck being reversed out of the 7-Eleven.
