Four years of Sky Silver and I have yet to do a Meet the Maker! Well here it is! My name is Remi Johnson, my home is the desert of Southeastern Utah, where I gather a lot of inspiration for my craft. I started my silversmith journey when I was pregnant with my first daughter and it has progressed to what you see today!

When I’m not at my desk creating, I’m raising two little cowgirls, shed hunting or baking sweet treats for the ones I love! Some of my favorite materials to work with are Ribbon Royston, spiny oyster and elk ivories!

Some goals I have for the future are to take a couple engraving classes, attend some bigger shows and to continue to create beautiful, durable and intentional pieces that you all connect with! Thank you all for being here in my corner of the world 💛

Being a maker is funny because I actually scrapped the first pair I made because they just didn’t feel right. I am so much happier with how this pair turned out! I’m still figuring out engraving design but I feel really happy with these! by @skysilverstudio

Little update from my corner of this app..

I’ve taken a small break to enjoy summer with my babies and honestly to refresh and slow down after our trip to California! It was a wonderful time that left me feeling so supported and inspired. I made friends, learned some lessons and got to enjoy the first road trip my little family has been able to go on.

I’m slowly dipping my toes back into being in the studio, I’ll probably try for more evenings after my girls go to sleep so that I’m not missing out on the days with them. As a mother and maker I always feel so guilty either not prioritizing motherhood or making. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to find the balance everyone talks about. My customs are still closed, I have some wedding projects on my desk for some dear friends. I might open things up for Christmas, or I might just make whatever strikes my fancy. We’ll see.
