Your dog does not care that it is a beautiful day. Your dog cares about the forty minutes when the pavement is cool and the air is not thick yet.

Today that window is 7:05 to 7:50 in the morning, and everything after it is a compromise.

Save this for tomorrow's walk.

Skyven is coming soon on the App Store.

Your tailgate has a forecast too.

Kickoff time is easy to find. What nobody tells you is when to fire up the grill, what the wind is doing to your flags, and whether the poncho is coming out at halftime.

Drop your team and your city in the comments and we will call it for your lot.

Save this for Saturday.

Skyven is coming soon to iPhone.

A box score will not tell you why that fly ball died at the track.

October baseball is decided by wind and temperature. Houston opened at 91 degrees with a 15 mph crosswind, Atlanta sits near 90 all series, and San Diego gets a marine layer rolling in right around first pitch.

Swipe for what the numbers actually do to the game.

Thirty-one days out and the forecast already knows what the costume is.

It happens every year: the costume photos are taken at 4 pm in daylight, and the actual trick-or-treating happens three hours later, in the cold and sometimes the rain. Plan the layers, not just the look.

Save this for costume planning.

Frost shows up while the house is asleep.

Save this for the first cold night of the season, and tell us what the first frost catches you out on.

You dressed for 68 degrees, and Denver handed you 41 by the time dinner ended.

That is the trap with a big temperature swing. One number in the morning, a completely different one by night, and your suitcase never gets the memo.

Swipe for the three versions of the same day, so you pack like someone who knows how it ends.

Save this before your next trip with a swing like this.

Same walk, better hour.

The walk was never the problem. The hour was. 7:05 to 7:50, before the light goes flat and the rain arrives, the coffee tastes better, the dog pulls, and the pavement is dry.

Save this for the next morning you almost skipped it.

Which hour do you actually like being outside?

Drop a city and the first frost window for it gets mapped.

Frost does not follow a calendar; it follows your zip code. Denver usually gets there in early October, Chicago not until late October, and New York can wait until November.

Save this one for the first cold morning.

A late September storm hits harder than it should. The reason is leaves.

Wind that would only ruffle a bare winter tree becomes a branch-snapper when every limb is still carrying foliage, which is exactly why this weekend's storm knocked out power from New Jersey to New England.

Save this so the next time a fall storm looks mild on paper, you know why it is not.

Me: just needed to know if it was raining.

The app: 0 percent chance of rain, partly cloudy, no umbrella needed.

The sky: hold my umbrella.

Every weather app reads you the numbers and leaves the decision to you. Skyven is being built to make the call instead.

Save this for the next time a forecast wastes your afternoon.

Storms don't send a text first. 🌧️

Nobody warns you before the wind turns. The forecast said "chance of rain," and then the sky skipped politeness entirely. By the time you check, it's already happening.

Skyven is the calm radar that watches the weather so you don't have to. It tells you what to do about it: when to move the car, when to stay in, when to keep the power bank topped up.

Save this for hurricane season. Send it to the friend who lives at the beach and laughs at forecasts.
