My angel. My hero. My dad.
Ten years ago, my world stopped turning—but somehow, life kept going. On January 3rd, 2016, everything changed forever. I didn’t get a choice. I had to be strong. Strong for Maddie. Strong for Deano. Strong for Mum. I had to grow up in a moment when all I wanted was to be in your arms. I think about the things you used to say, especially this one: “If anything happens to Mum or Me, you only have each other.” Back then, I didn’t understand why you would ever say something like that. I didn’t want to understand it. But now I do. I understand it with every part of my heart.
I see you in them every single day. In the way they laugh. In the way they take up space without even trying. In their stubbornness, their warmth, their ability to light up a room just by walking into it. Maddie’s smile—your smile. Deano’s heart—your heart. You are still here, Dad. You live in them. You live in me.
They are the only people in this world who truly know what this loss feels like. The only ones who carry the same ache, the same memories, the same missing piece.
